The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Heh. I was wondering how long until people noticed the thread change.

I was like dafuq? I like the change.
Especially since most of us should be working instead of posting.

Looks like the wife wants to look at guns for her again. She apparently isn't happy with her current. Bah!

Let me check on how much 9mm I have in my inventory. I need some quick cash for other things otherwise I wouldn't be selling it. (notcool)

yes it is.

What's everyone's feelings on paddle shifters?

On high end cars it seems kinda cool and F1 like. Not sure how I feel about them on a family sedan. The 6 I test drive when they first came out wasn't bad at all but not impressive enough to want them. Plus it's only a the GT model which is too much for me anyway. If I couldn't drive stick I guess I can see the appeal. It's kinda like the whole auto-stick thing. If you're getting an auto I guess it's better nothing if you want to have more fun than just using your car as an appliance.

pain in the ass for city driving and parking, no matter what car it is

only nice when the gear changes are fast and smooth (up and down), which not a lot of manufacturers can pull off

not worth it (to me) unless the car has over 450 HP AND I'm beating the s*** out of it

mostly a feature manufacturers use to have people believe the car is sportier than it actually is

it is, however better than the triptonic options, at least the ones I've driven

The only car I have ever liked with paddles on it was a VW GTI. Those DGSs could rip off quick shifts which made it fun. Other than that, they seem to react slower in most other cars than leaving it in D. I'm sure they are a blast in something like a Ferrari 458, but in your everyday commuter, probably not.

All of the above. It's just not the same as having a manual.
