The Ohio Auto-X and Track Event chat thread

Hey #2, I could go pick them up for you and deliver to the menchies meet tomorrow night. LMK

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely let you know.

Typically companies that make aftermarket wheels like what will always have a larger bore so it fits more makes/models of cars.

Ya I typically see the larger bore sizes. Since the bore on the XXR wheels is 6.1mm larger, do I absolutely have to use hub centric rings? Or can I get away with not using them? I would think that as long as you put the lugs on in the correct order (diagonals), the lugs should center the wheel right?

Centric rings are not necessary. I don't use them at all on the Miata (even though I have them).

^this. Just be cautious when mounting the lugs nuts and make sure to tighten them fairly snug before lowering the car.

Ya I always make sure I tighten each lug nut by hand as much as I can before tightening them with the torque wrench.

Neither sets of my wheels have the rings in them but I have them just watch what your doing and don't screw anything up lol

The lugs have a conical seat which moves the wheel into the correct place. I just slap the wheel on there and hit it with my impact in the star pattern. Or something close to that since I only have 4 studs. :)

I use hubcentric rings for all my aftermarket wheels. The are inexpensive on eBay for the plastic Gorilla ones. I've been using the nice metal ones Jon gave me years ago when I bought his silver RPF1's. The plastic ones are pretty fragile so be careful.

No rings for either set of my wheels. I always retorque them after a short road test though. I suppose it would be a good idea to do this with any wheel, even factory wheels.

Maybe his bagel is sad Patrick ate his family?

Thanks for the links, Will! I need to work on my slaloms desperately. I'm stoopid slow through them.

I agree with Evan, I think he ate a sad bagel.

Evan if my car is acting up still I'll co-drive with you in the MS6 if you want. The 9-10 psi of boost might be a wee too much for the 230k motor. Runs fine up to 7psi as it was when it was stock, but when it hit WOTat 9-10 it sputters a little bit, but can barely feel/hear it. No reason to risk the motor when it isn't tuned for it and I don't have money to get it tuned. Probably just going to just swap the oem wg back on and see how she runs then. I might have to take off the ssafc too if my afr is still all over the place as well :(
