The CX-5 LED Lighting Thread

Be careful dragontheeth, since the touring uses the DRLs as high beams also, you might lose some high beam functionality. LEDs are inadequate replacements for high beams and usually don't function on the dual voltage required for DLR/high.

Can anyone tell me if I need some resistors to put these LEDS into my CX-5 for turning signals in front ? Or can I plug and play with these LED`s ?? I`ve ordered these LED`s from aliexpress.........thank you for responding....

My guess is yes or else you'll get the hyperflash symptom. The VLEDs Triton bulbs come with a socket and supplied resistor to prevent hyperflash. I've had mine for about 6 weeks and pretty happy with them. Not the cheapest solution but a very, very effective one.

DRL question.

On the JDMToy page they suggest this DRL replacement.

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Mazda-CX-5-LED-Daytime-Running-Light-Kit-p/mazda-cx5-drl.htm

but in the comments someone suggest this Camaro alternative:

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Chevy-Camaro-RS-SS-DRL-P13W-LED-Fog-Bulbs-p/40-042.htm

Thoughts?

And I would suggest this ;)

Just because I like 5K White... and VLEDS are pretty well known for quality. A lot more expensive though, probably more options available if you look around.

edit: XenonDepot is decent also I think.

Thanks!! In the long run quality is almost always better than price.

Yes. use 6 ohm 50w resistors, available around for web for < $10 per pair. Mount them on metal, not plastic.

They are both pw13. One *may* (not sure if it's the case with either of those) have a slightly longer socket shaft, but it will still fit.. I would suggest getting a cree projector LED for a better lighting. They cost about the same price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-2-pcs-P...Parts_Accessories&hash=item58b40186de&vxp=mtr half the price of the vled cree. A lot of the stuff from VLED is just Chinese bulk purchased as well (nothing wrong with it), with a higher mark up. These are a white light. They match my hids because I replaced my oem 4100k hids with 6000k hids.

I always buy from VLEDS and paid $60 + $2.99 shipping. In a quick Ebay search I found what looks like the exact same LED on Ebay for $39 w/free shipping for my fogs.
Though not known if the Ebay LED is 5K or 6K and I prefer using 5K in all my LED installs.A question to the seller may provide that answer.

BTW,these fit without out any alterations or problems in the fog assembly.

I'll still but from VLEDS unless I find the exact LED on Ebay.A lot of Ebay LEDs are junk,IMO.

eBay is a hit or miss in terms of quality and what you get from them. I've learned my lessons from buying multiple LEDs from eBay for interior on my other cars, each of them looks the same but the kelvin is completely different. All they are willing to state would be "white" or "super white" and not the actual color temperature. That's why I suggested VLEDS as they are the right temperature and probably better QC than eBay sellers. I know you do pay more but you get what you paid for.

Yup, there are a lot of similarities that looks like the same ones from VLEDS but you would not be 100% sure about which color temperature/kelvin eBay LEDs are and sometimes it harder to communicate with eBay sellers. I think I would always suggest VLEDS over eBay... if one wants quality.

I ordered off VLED. I didn't realize they were just a little north of me in Bellingham. They are on backorder until latter September... no biggie.

Runtohell121: Do you have tech package & OEM HIDs? Just want to make sure I ordered the right DRL replacement. I notice further back in thread someone mentioned that non-tech models use the the high beam for DRL light. No biggie if I need to cancel order as it is on backorder until 9/22.

You could try going to their store if you are near them and see what they offer.

Nope. I have a Touring with halogen headlight.

CX-5 w/ HID uses P13W for DRL.
CX-5 w/ Halogen uses 9005 (high beam) for DRL.

I haven't looked yet.
Wife using the CX now.
Before I order,DRL swap to LED easy in the GT tech?
