the best spark plugs to get

im placing an order with amazon for new pads and rotors so i figure i may as well order some new plugs. did some searching and found people using zfr5f-11. Are these the best to get? I dont have any issues right now with rough idle or shudder so there is nothing to correct, just think its time since Ive put 22k on the car since i got it and not sure when the plugs were changed before that.

Those are the plugs to get. They're the "long-reach" ones, and NGK V-Powers are what our car runs best on. Plus they're cheap, so extra good news for you. Don't waste money on iridiums or those crazy bosch 4 prong plugs, just go with those.

That just saved me a thread topic, I was gonna go with iridium till you said this, thanks lol

So if I replace my plugs to these Z plugs, I'm gonna have to change over to the pricier gas?!?

I used the long reach ones for a couple years with no issues, no need to change gas. Back to regular ones now, though, and to be honest I'm not sure if I even notice a difference.

Hmm, I'm not too sure which ones to go for. Right now I have iridium ones (I didn't put these in) and they are white..so, too hot or too lean. And I'm thinking that might be the reason for my bad idling right now.

I had Iridiums and I didn't think much of them to be honest. I changed to Nology Silver plugs and instantly noticed a diffrence.

Why not use what the Mazda shop manual recommends? Page 01-50-3 2002 Mazda Protege/Protege 5 workshop manual.

I've used the Bosch Platinum 4's, NGK "long reach" and OEM plugs and I didn't notice a difference in any of them. But my car has always idled well and I don't have many issues. I'd say just go with the OEM NGK BKR5-11, don't waste your money.

Do not use Bosch Plugs - they're garbage. Trying to upgrade the ignition system in our cars (i.e., plugs, wires, and coils) is pretty much a waste of money (and yes, I don't consider the 1.8L coil conversion to have any significant effects on performance). The stock stuff is more than adequate.

I've used Bosch Platinum 4 plugs in all 3 of my Civics and they've always worked just fine. Everyone bashes them for some reason so I switched to NGK long reach and didn't notice any bit of difference. Granted they are crazy expensive so are a waste of money, but they're not "garbage". It's not like they make your car run like crap or anything.

So not too long ago I was running the stock ngk's car was running fine. When it came time to switch those out I went with the bosch plug's car ran like ass and idle was crazy.Went back and got the stock ngk's because I couldn't take it anymore and walla good as new again and never had a problem since also idle is great.

-Bosch plug's are junk in our car's-

Well, if that's what you say happen, I guess people will just have to take your word for it then, no worries. My experience with Bosch plugs have been the opposite. They've always worked just fine in my cars, including my P5. But I agree with you to just use OEM NGK's, so at least we can agree on that. heh-heh

The "long reach" plugs are JDM, yo! What more is there to ask?? (lol2)

No Bosch, NGK all the way in our engines.

ZFR5F-11 gapped at .044 are the plugs to get. The BKR5E-11 are good too but I always had the ZFRs in my P5.

Oh and also, don't bother with platinum or iridium plugs.. they're a waste of money. The long reach copper (ZFR V-Power) NGKs perform just as good at a fraction of the price.
