haha...one of the best feelings in the world is talking to a WRX owner and telling him the P5 beat the WRX wagon in the slaloms...a small category...but the p5 still beat the wrx...the WRX owner's mouth drops in disbelief and i have the biggest grin on my face...thank you motortrend

The test between the Mazda Proege' 5, Toyota Matrix, and Subaru WRX Wagon is in the most recent issue of Motor Trend. (May 2002) They cover everything. Accelearation, Braking, Slalom, On-road ride/handling, Long Distance Comfort, Ergonomics/Features, Usable Cargo Space, Standard Equipment Comparison, Sport Package Effectiveness, and Overall Value. (I just copied that from the report card at the end of the article). I think the MP5 measured very well against the other 2 tested, especially since there was almost a $10,000 difference in the "as tested" price of the MP5 and the WRX Wagon. Another great reason to be a P5 owner

If I remember it right both P5 and Matrix scored A in the overall value category, and wrx scored B+ or something. I do have to say the comparison is not entirely apple to apple, I mean they are comparing Matrix XRS(with 180hps and more expensive), WRX(much more expensive) with P5! Well, I think P5 is still the most stylish with the best overall value of the three.

yeah...when i read the article i thought it was totally unfair...both the WRX and the matrix are more expensive...both models they tested are supposed to be the top of the line models...even though there is only one trim level of P5 they could have made a better comparison...but still i'm proud that our little P5 can compete with the big boys...plus i save $10k compared to the competition
