when I said don't drive thru the lake thats kinda what I ment....if you are faced with this "Obsticle" last thing you wanna do is floor it cause the "Hover Effect" takes place and the cai is the multi attachment tool. and people wonder why i keep my tools in the trunk. I can clear that cause My cai turns back into a sri and if water is high as the filter of the sri then it's in the cabin before it gets in the engine......
about how deep does the water have to be for hydrolock to take effect. I was about to get a CAI and was wondering if the $50 bypass valve is a waste of money or not.
Basically I am wondering if normal rain situations like up to 5" would have any effect. I didn't think that it would but would like to have a second opinion. Thanks
ywp when filter sucks op lil more than a cup of uncombustable liquid...
take into consideration that the engine is hot metal once it gets past the intake mani...when it rains a lili bit (sprinkles) will get in the intake in a mist form....thats ok cause it will be nothing but a minature steam bath for the combustion chamber. bpv works as long as yu put it on a straight pipe paralell with tb....and the filter is submerged. when the filter gets submerged it gets a lil heavy and the bpv will open pulling air from the engine bay instead of the fender where it was. it closes once the water falls out of the bottom of the intake. as for how far water has to get before it's an "Issue".....can't tell you exactly since I still hav't seen where it runs in the engine bay to fender... my cai is located just below my side marker about 2 inchs from the top of my lip kit (looking at lugs there is a top one and the one clockwise right is how high the bottom is from the bottom. picture is of the right side....picture it as the left of the car and it's the same height
