Mazda 2016 CX-5
Well, after one day of ownership love my CX-5 but, I got all electronic thingies to work except text messaging. iPhone 6S, IOS 9.1, message notification turned on. Anyone got this to work with a iPhone ?

iPhone 6 with 8.2 works fine... but now I have another reason not to update the iOS until I hear yours works. ;-)

This is in your Bluetooth settings on your iPhone. After syncing with your Mazda -- on your iPhone go to settings>>bluetooth>>press the little "i" info button next to Mazda under devices, and turn on "Show Notifications"
You'll be able to receive texts but the iPhone won't let you respond from the Mazda system. But you can always use siri to "respond."

Nope, thats the first thing I tried

Do you have a passcode setup on your phone? No idea if this fixes it on a '16 but on a '15 one way to fix is to turn off passcode, pair, then re-enable code after you confirm it is working

Tccox - I have the same problem, but mine is a 5S IOS 8.4. Perhaps I'll attempt an update to the OS (although it doesn't seem to be working for you). My phone requires a password for work and I unfortunately cannot take it off...even temporarily.

Nope, still not working. I suspect maybe it's IOS 9.1 that's the problem

The '16 is a whole different animal than unit in '15. IOS 9.1 works fine in that unit...assuming the BT module gets replaced.

Odd - I am headed home from work this evening, receive a text and prompt for it to be read. I didn't have an opportunity to update my OS...not sure what caused it to suddenly work.

In my experience with all versions I've had on my 2016, it's flakey until you delete ALL MMS messages (text messages with pics/vids/sounds). After I did that, it's been flawless.

No need to clear out all your SMS, just the multimedia ones. (including the emojis, I think)

+1 for this solution on my 2014 with Android.
