Crosspost from M3F...

I brought my car to TEIN this week for, what they said was to take measurements and specs for future kits. I assumed they'd measure it up, then give me a call back when they had a prototype to fit up.

Anyway, when i went to pick it up yesterday, as i rounded the corner, i knew right away, they had put something on it, cause it was LOW. I'm like sweet, musta got some springs

So i go in and come to find out, they lied...lol... they put on a coilover kit *does happy dance* i assumed it was the basic kit, but then he mentioned damper adjustability...holy s***, it's an SS kit!!! *bows down in appreciation*

Apperently, they had only ever fitted that kit to a HB, and wanted to be 100% sure it fit the sedan and verify the spring rates for the sedan. They said the weight difference of the HB was not enough to warrant a change in spring rate and the kit fit just fine.

I haven't played withthe adjustments or even know where the adjustments are set yet, TEIN is going to email me the specs they set it at soon. Guessing, i'd say about 1.8-2.0" up front and 1.5" out back. The height is set to still retain full suspension travel. Either way it looks GREAT!.

The ride is noticably and obviously stiffer than stock, but nowhere near as bad as i would have thought for being that low. The springs don't feel all that stiff and the dampening is awesome. At slower speeds, the stiffness is more apparent, but cruising on the freeway it's really smooth. I have only driven on them for a few hours, so this is just my initial impression.

I must give a BIG thank you to Johnathon at TEIN for being very professional and offering great customer service, despite the fact, i wasn't really even a customer persay. I was genuinely suprised i would even have anything installed on the car, let alone a high priced coilover kit.

I can't beleive the luck i've had with this car and test fittings...must just be my time, cause almost all my mods have been from test fit sessions and yes, all for free. Sure there's the inconvience of driving all over socal and bugging family and friends for rides, etc...but all in all, i think the monetary savings are worth the inconvience

Then when i was finished at TEIN, i drove right over to ARK for thier new SS exhaust system test fit...Friday was a good day!

I'll have some pics to post up tonight if i get home before dark, if not then Sunday.

NO s***!
Lucky you...I wish i lived near all these manufacturers...I would do the same if given the opportunity.
Hope they do you well!

nice i know what ur feeling. i was the testbed for konis yellow adjustable dampners for the cavalier. its great when u get the stuff for free.

glad u like it!

for people worried about the stiffness and don't want too much of a drop, they can get the JDM SS's which lower less and have softer spring rates
people in the north can also buy the tein rust proofing spray s***.... I believe it's JDM only because I haven't seen it in the US catalog or the US site... I can import that s*** if people want them

btw darryl, time to get the EFDC s***!

Ya, living in Socal close to most of these manufactures is a definet plus...but living in Socal in general it has it's downs...lol

Brian MP5T...those look like the Basic kit for the P5. I helped install those at an install party i had, good stuff (yippy)

The MZ3 kit looks similar for the front, but the rears are seperate springs/shocks.

the basic and SS's look the same actually... the adjustment as at the top of the shock piston AFAIK... SS's don't come with the pillowball mounts either

the basics are a USDM only line only... no market in japan... I have a feeling anyone who buys coil overs there just buys the good/real s*** since everything costs a fortune there anyway

Just cut a little hole in your hood...they'll fit then...(evil)
