^ re did the bumper, nice.

I was there but didn't see you. Anyways the P5 and Toyota always looking good.

Thanks, I was walking around mostly. Also installed my jdm power folding mirrors after 4year having them and finally detailed the Pro5 after 10years=) 2012 we will be having our Team Pro5 10year anniversary bbq/meet/cruise so will keep you posted!

I'm not going for the Familia look. All P5's were made in Japan so they are by standard JDM. OF course the Familia S was the Japan standard and had the square front end and fog lights, I prefer the Protege5 look. I have a MSP bumper in my extra room awaiting paint. From there I will install the DG grill and then a lip/diffuser of my choice (06-07 chargespeed front lip). If anyone wants to argue the JDM issue, I speak japanese so that should count enough lol

I had the JDM bumper and got rid of it because I preferred the Pro5 bumper as well. Well the bumper I currently have came off a Sport 20. Here we get alot of Mazda vehicles directly from Japan and Singapore. Many guys here go for the Sport 20 / Protege 5 look though so it's kind of opposite to our US counterparts.

Actually i want the non-sport 20 front bumper. I got one in Australia but shipping is cost up the ass. Im looking to get the squares fogs for the bumper and get this MintBlue front=) I already have the JDM rear bumper and brackets with MB rear. Note no rear bumper support

I was looking for that MintBlue grille a few months ago but it is so rear I just gave up and went with a replica Autoexe. Still wish I could find one. The bumpers you get here don't have the lip on them they are just plain with the square fogs. Shipping would be a PITA from here also. Here is what my previous bumper looked like. The bumper with that lip are really hard to come across as well you get the one just like that but no lip.

Sweet, I figured you guys would get some imports. How is the Sport20. I assume it's the same 2.0L my car has but AWD. I know it has the different body style, which I'm not a fan of. I would love to have an AWD P5, but only if it was build well. I plan on buying the 5-door STI in the next year or two

The Sport 20 are actually just like he Pro 5 but with the FS-ZE 2.0l engine and some slightly different specs on minor things like sway bars. There were the 4WD versions in both the normal 1.6l ZM and the 2.0 FS (Sport 20) but they were few and far apart. Many of the Mazda enthusiasts actually prefer the normal 2WD due to the 4WD being very lazy. Mine is a @Navisport Familia with the 1.5l SVT (Mazda's version of VVT) and it is a very fun car to drive engine has more HP than the 1.6 ZM but less torque. On the stock ENKEI 15s it came with it was very zippy. Thing is though the VVT works on a Oil Control Valve (OCV) so you know when you oil is deteriorating because you feel the car get a bit lazy also it is preferable to use a 10w oil with the car; I use 10W 30. Using like a 20W messes with the VVT badly. Wit hthe Sport 20 you feel the power at the wheel, very nice handling car even at stock, the performance is great to, shocks alot of nay sayers. A Manual Sport 20; mind you some how there were few of those right out the factory that came here, I knew a guy with one was like heaven to drive and with the right mods was like Damn!

Wildcard, that was incredibly informative and helpful. Thank you so much. Sport20's were a thing of myth to me and something I knew very little about.
I knew the protege5 in Canada and Mexico came with the 1.6L and it made it hard to find some parts for mine since I have the 2.0L. I had to replace my transmission and all I could find was the one for the 1.6L.
I assumed the 2.0L was a special edition model that was AWD, being as alot of work has to go into redesigning and construction. Was it 4WD or AWD?

No problem buddy. There was a 4WD model, no AWD, but the more popular one you found here were he normal 2WD. The more popular models here as well are the 1.6l even the 1.5l ZM-DE and ZL-VE are a little bit harder to find however there are alot of Foreign Used dealers that bring in the engine and have no idea what it's worth, even the 2.0l FS-ZE and they sell it for little money until they find out about it of course. What did you end up doing about the tranny though? I think the FS-ZE has a stronger block than that FS-DE I think Pistons as well not sure about the block part but have heard it mentioned about the pistons being stronger. The differences in the design were very slight in the Sport 20 compared to the Protege 5 I believe so I guess that allowed them to slap the FS-ZE for the Japanese version Sport 20.

The FS Engines are designed the same in where the DE and ZE have different pistons, different ECU, different Intake manifold and cams. ZE of course is higher compression which in turn gives you the extra HP combined with the ZE intake manifold, cams and ECU. Cranks are all forged except for some different FSDE Engines which one needs to watch out for ( which? I don't recall ). When I was looking for cranks I had to be careful from which FS engine it came as some were not forged.

It's just like the MSP's Engine. Same exact FSDE motor down to the bearings. Only differences are the MBSP ( for Turbo Oil Drain Plug fitting ), Turbo equipment to include coolant lines and oil lines, remapped ECU. Everything is the same to include the injectors as well. Trans only has the beefier axles and LSD. Exhaust is reconfirgured as they kept the dual cat system as well.

EVADE & wildcard, I am really liking those front ends. Wish I could get one of them.

Ah good information DarkAngel thanks for clearing that up. That pic above is what my car started off looking like, well I out on the rims and the Fleabay grille but I changed that bumper to the Sport 20 one because I found it looked more aggressive. EVADE's bumper looks real stylish..I like how original it is. If he gets that MintBlue grille would be awesome too. I hope he tells me where I can get one too. lol

When my tranny went out, it broke the shifting fork and was stuck in 3rd. No matter where I put my shifter, the transmission was in 3rd. I dropped it off at my shop and went on vacation to the beach. While I was gone, they cracked my tranny to see if it was repairable. They weren't able to fix it so they found a matching transmission in Washington state which is on the complete opposite side of the country from me. The shipped in the 5-speed tranny with 88k miles, did the swap, replaced all of my motor mounts and fluids. The total price for everything including the transmission, the fluids, the mounts, the labor for taking out my old one, cracking it apart, and putting the new one in all totaled to $1,025.00. I love the guys at my shop :D

Installed Retrofitted Headlights.
