Tall drivers comfy in their CX-5s?

I am 6ft@ 280lbs. I fit comfortably in my CX-5. The only complaint I do have is that the seat sits up high off of the floor, so for me, its like sitting in a chair when I am driving. I kind of wish the seats were a big lower, but it is what it is.

Not sure about the sport, the power seat version can lower it a surprising amount. Far lower than most suv's...feels like sitting in a car.

I believe mine is lowered all the way, I will double check on my way home from work.

You might consider a full-size SUV?

It's a thought but it would be way overkill for what I actually need. I'm probably looking at crossovers for the same reason as everybody else: I'd like the extra space to haul people, dogs, and junk but I still want something that drives more-or-less like a car. Plus my wife drives a minivan for the times that we really need space. My deal is commuting, dragging things back from big box stores, and the occasional joyride through the southern Adirondacks. It's the last bit that makes things tricky...I like to drive.

That's my situation. I love to drive but for heLth reasons I need to sit up straight. I put off getting a crossover or SUV u till I reD a review of the CX 5. Then I drove all of them except GM and Audi. I like the CX-5 better then the Audi Allroad I traded. Great drivers car.

CX-5 is the perfect vehicle for taller folk

I test drove several different mid sized SUV's (RAV 4, CRV, SanteFe, Escape) before finally choosing the CX-5. I almost chose the 2.0L. Boy, am I glad I dodged that bullet!! The 2.5L models are by far the better choice. I am 6'2" so comfort was a concern. With the GT having the power seats it was easy to find a seating position that worked for me, even on long trips. I like the seat all the way back and the steering wheel not too close. I do miss the adjustable brake and gas pedal that I had in my previous Ford, but, I never get a tired right foot on long trips with the CX-5, as I tend to use cruise control.

I went from a station wagon to a CX-5 and really was satisfied with the room it had in the back. The ride quality was by far better than other vehicles I drove and has an amazing sporty feel for an SUV.

After all my test drives I certainly believe that there was no perfect SUV for me but the 2014 GT CX-5 that I bought ticked off more boxes than all others. Now, I didn't get the GT Tech version as I didn't think the premium price was worth it, but the non Tech version had all the features that I wanted.

After 2 years I have absolutely no regrets in my purchase and recommend it to any friends in the market for a newer vehicle. (cheers2)

Compared to the passenger seat, I'd say it lowers it about 1'' (estimate). I agree, it does feel like a car. I got a chance to drive where the MX-5 was tested. I am happy I didn't go with the Forester.

I am 6'-4" and have no problems in the CX-5. I have the GT with power adjusted seat though. I have about 3" from my head to the ceiling when sitting completely upright. I had to trade my 2 year old Mazda 3 in 2014 because my back problems were flaring up because I was slouching to fit in the car. If I sat up properly in the 3 my head would tilt into the sunroof and touch the glass...

ditto on my 2013 ford focus, its been gone 10 days now and so has my back pain!!! 210lbs, 6 foot

I also have a beater honda element, my cx5 is super cool lookin, and the Element is NOT! but if you can stand the looks, its the most comfortable car for seating and gittin in and out of there is. its for someone who is vehicularly challenged! lol

I'm 6'-04", 35"-36" inseam and the CX-5 has all day comfort (longest trip so far was 400 miles). I agree the hatch should open higher, I have to duck to use it as rain protection. But the entry/exit ergonomics work really well for a tall person which is appreciated when I'm running a lot of errands. So I get all day driving comfort and MPG's in the 30's, a difficult to find combination, especially with AWD.

Hi all

I'm 6ft 1inch and the combination of seat comfort and headroom makes this the best car I've had the pleasure to drive. I used to have right knee problems (in the UK right hand drive remember ;) ) as lower cars made it more awkward to get in/out. On the CX5 my hip height is the same as the top of the seat cushion which means I can just slide on/off the seat. I'm also able to have the seat backrest at a 10% angle from vertical as advised by my physio some years ago without compromising headroom.

Cheers
