Talking About The Speed At NLOC...

when i pay off the mazda n have had my fun with it, im goin cobra if i can find a decent one.
Yes! I'd like to do that too but I don't really know what year Ford's quality tanked and when it started to come back. My last known year was 2001. But then again, I haven't owned/driven in any other Fords since 2001 minding my 2005 Expedition. No matter what kind of quality I would still go with 2004 as my choice of either Lightning or SVT Cobra...or both! I'm more into the Tacoma scene right now, so that will replace my Mazda hopefully soon.
You Ford haters need to realize that the Mazda 3's ENTIRE PLATFORM (the C1 platform) was designed jointly between Ford, Mazda, and Volvo, and is simply an evolution of the C170 platform used for the original Ford Focus.
Thank you! Even though it is a Volvo/Mazda chassis, it is pretty much a Fuckus chassis. Doesn't matter how much you don't want to believe these are the facts.

lol, again...I'm not judging ford based off of one platform, nor do I consider the 3 platform to be that great in all honesty

the speed3 has a great motor, but it's hard to deny the truth that it is bulky and understeers a lot....it's easy to correct that with some upgrades, but out of the box that is the case

but did ford develop the rx7/rx8 chassis? I don't think so =P

It's an alright chassis. Doesn't twist much so that's pretty good.(?)

Bulky and understeers...sounds like every car out there. Although I have gotten some oversteer in the Exped. Probably not good on account of its size but it pulled through the turn nicely. :D

I'm not a fan of the RX series cars. They're...too much of something. I mean they're nice but for those automatic drivers, they really cut down the power and the car is just too much...something. IDK, just not really my style. I'm a big, bulky, oversteer, torque your ass off kinda guy. So mustangs and trucks/SUV's hit the spot for me. (somehow I'm driving a Mazda3...wtf?)

actually to be quite honest, if I had 30k to spend I'd get a roller RX-7 FD and drop a triple rotor single turbo into it =P
(yea, I ain't sacreligious haha)

omg...it's soooo hard to not turn this into an "i wish" thread, cuz i have tooooooo many in that list

-3rd gen rx7 with 4 rotor NA
-r34 skyline
-68 fastback mustang with modern engine (yes there are body only kits)
-1950's truck (i would love to make a real life Mater from Cars replica)
-porsche 928 (thanks Risky Business)

and those are just a couple off the top of my head

ps...i can't stand threadjacking and i do it anyway

hahaha, I hear ya there oaklandopen

my3needsaname
I think you are forgetting the rx-7
twin turbo 13b rotary? lol, you can't have too much of that goodness....in a chassis that handles like an absolute DREAM (since the motor is completely behind the front wheels)

I mean, in the end if you really don't like rx7s or rx8s that's your choice...but I challenge you to go out and find an rx7 FD to test drive and come back to tell me you didn't enjoy taking it out to town ;-)

You're missing the obvious performance king for the 65K price range albeit the M3 isnt a bad choice if it wasnt for the "rip you off" maintenance premium on the thing...

I should also point out this thread got way off topic

I concur.....

With all monetary issues aside what car would YOU drive within a reasonable price range.. Lets say up to 65k. It has to be road legal and have the ability to be driven daily..

Mine:
-2009 White M3, Coupe Hardtop.

Or

-A Brand New (impossible, it'd have to be used) MKIV* Electric Blue Golf R32 with a HPA Twin-Turbo System installed..

Or

-A Used '05 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe in Jet Black with a set of Black BBS RR's in Black..... Skeeet!

Edit-- Yes, I do LOVE German vehicles!

09 M3 MMMMMMMM.

yea....and if you price one out to $65k you'll probably end up getting it for like $55k anyway

rather have the IS-F. it will last much longer. and in the right hands it will beat the M3 but for that money the Z06 gets my cash and will destroy both

Id get a GT-R over the Z06. but you arent going to get one for 65k.

on average they are going for 80-95k so the next best thing is a Z06

I knew these two cars would have came up even though they are more than the 65k mark...

--Ariel Atom 3... any takers??

meh...good one but there are other features that outweigh the ariel's performance. like not getting rained on.

i guess it would be in the same group as to why ppl dont get more motorcycles for their performance, which are the ultimate in the bang-for-buck market.

ive been told by quite a bit of car enthusiast who also ride bikes insanely and they have said they get more of a thrill out of cornering in a car than on a bike

Ill take the Atom and I am shocked on the Z06 pricing - its been a while since Ive priced the vettes - just checked and the base model starts at 49K - when I got mine they started at 43K - the Z06 when it came out was mid 60's but it may be my senile mind playing games - just realized its mid-70's now -

Ive yet to see an Atom on the road - did see a Tesla - another car I wouldnt mind having for mid-60's

I'm not sure how to break this to you, so I'll just come out and say it....it's actually the year 2009 now
I'm so sorry, I can only imagine how easy it is to loose track of 30 or 40 years after the 60s

you never will.

it wouldnt last on everyday roads with pot holes, uneven pavement, speed bumnps and such.

thats why top gear didnt put its time on their board. its not a true production car
