I have a 95 Mazda Protege which is unfortunatley automatic but on the other hand its a 1.5 DOHC and I was wondering did the 95 come factory with a 5 speed? Will a 1.8 5 speed bolt up to a 1.5 engine?
You will probably need the stick ecu and drive shafts . I would be easier if you werre to sell you car and buy a 5 speed . It will probably cost you over 1000 to do thisHeminator said:well i cant answer you about the compatablility of the 1.8-5spd vers 1.5-5spd i can tell you you are in for a lot of work . i would recommend a complete donor car rather tna have to source out all the bits and pieces you will need to make the swap. pedal assy , linkage, shifters , misc bolts, hydraulic clutch system ect
on the other hand ... you will love the car as a stick compared to the auto slushbox
Buy the car ,rebuild the engine and sell yours ,if the other car is in good shape95ProtegePrjct said:I have someone selling me another 95 Protege that is a 5-speed but it has a blown 1.8 engine in it for 200 bucks. I talked with a buddy of mine and he said he'd do the work for 200 bucks but my car is an automatic, 1.5L.
Here is abit of history on the Protege95ProtegePrjct said:Ok cool. I want to beef my car up a little. Money isnt a problem. But there seems to be nothing for a 95 Protege. PPL has said use GTX parts but what is a GTX? LOL. Did the make a 95 Mazdaspeed Protege and if they dont can I somehow turn my 95 into a mazdaspeed?
