thats good to know, i checked my intercoolr, and i did not see oil in the throtle body!

The surging was gone for a little while over these past coupple of days. Now that the fuel light has come on it has started again. Maybe a fuel pump/sending unit issue?

Perhaps the possibility that you're pulling sediments and deposits from the bottom of the fuel tank into the fuselage assembly and fuel lines?

Stuff like that can cause surging with cars........ especially when you run it low on the tank. Try checking your uh....... fuel injectors, have them looked at and see if they are dirty/clogged.... (drunk)

Yeah...I'll do that when I finally get it to the dealer. They told me last Thurs that the parts would be here the following Tues...now its a week later and they told me that the parts still have not come in.

I notice the surging as well, usually in 4th around 3,500 RPM. Somewhat in 3rd too but not as much. The techs told me it was wheel noise from uneven wear, so after I put new tires on and brought it in, they had the area service rep check it out and he said there are some innate noises the rear diff makes. Don't know if this is another BS answer or not, but it's what I was told.

A member from the "other side" had the same issues with his speed6 and he stated that his dealer replaced his fuel pump and problem solved, no more surging.

still haven't been to the dealer. Now the clutch parts are listed as "on back order". I will bring up the fuel pump to the tech when I finally get my call to come to the dealer. I've elemenated plugs, fuel (quality), Boost Leaks, and throttle plate issues...I guess big stuff is next. (thumb)

What do you guys mean by surging??? My car is acting crazy!!! It has been for about 2 months. What its doing is... 1st to 2nd it shifts fine, when i get into third it will feel like im letting off the gas then pushing it again. I took it to the dealer and they told me there is nothing wrong... but they did the reflash and it is still doing it bad!! So is that what your cars are doing???

My 06 has the same surging issue in 3rd and 4th gear. I just put the CP-E intake and exhast on and the problem got a little worse, which makes me think something turbo related.

I'm waiting for the CP-E plug and play to be released, hopefully that will address boost cut off and eliminate the surging.

What exactkly does the waste gate do? A guy I know that has an RX8 said maybe the waste gate is sticking....

Here's a copy & paste from howstuffworks.com:

"Most automotive turbochargers have a wastegate, which allows the use of a smaller turbocharger to reduce lag while preventing it from spinning too quickly at high engine speeds. The wastegate is a valve that allows the exhaust to bypass the turbine blades. The wastegate senses the boost pressure. If the pressure gets too high, it could be an indicator that the turbine is spinning too quickly, so the wastegate bypasses some of the exhaust around the turbine blades, allowing the blades to slow down."

So its the same as a BOV then right? Does the 6 have both??

A BOV is part of the intake system and will reduce the air coming into the engine and turbo. While the wastegate is part of the exhaust system and is inside the turbo. It releases extra exhaust gasses into the downpipe.

Yes, we have both :D

I had some surging issues myself, if i got on it a little . I found my MAF was a little dirty so after I cleaned it the surging went away . Try your MAF!

I actually thought that could have been it from when i installed the CAI i was thinking maybe it got dirty.... but after cleaning it, nothing changed for better or worse.

So is that something we can check??

Sure. Do you have a Dashhawk? Set it to display the #2 oxygen sensor, warm up the engine, rev to 6000rpm or so and downshift. You should see the reading jump as you take in the clutch and the rmps drop.

Fun, but very unlikely to be the cause of the surging :(

how did you clean the MAF??
