Subwoofer not working.

The sub in my 2003.5 Protege hasn't been working for a while now. I just haven't really had the time to look into it and fix it. I was looking at it and I didn't feel any loose wires or anything. I am thinking that maybe the subwoofer may be blown.

When I first noticed it, the sub would go in and out randomly. One second it would play fine then the next it wouldn't be working at all. Now, it doesn't work at all, ever. That is why I thought there may be a loose wire, but I didn't feel anything loose. I haven't pulled the radio out to see if there is something loose behind there. I was just wondering what you guys might think could be causing it to not work. It could be blown, or a loose wire. I just don't have any idea. I would like to get a good idea of what it could be before I try to get in there. It doesn't look like an easy thing to get to. If I could get some suggestions on how to approach this I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

ya, and if it is the fuse and it keeps popping new fuses, deff check the ground and make sure its secure on both ends.

check the ground...to the radio and the amp. if it works and cuts off then its grounding out some where.

I checked all the fuses and I check the connections on the amp. I haven't pulled out the head unit yet. What about the connections on the Sub itself? Could those be loose?

for the main fuse the one that comes off the battery you take the fuses on the amp(s) add them up so if you have a 30 amp and a 20 amp fuse you should have 60 amp add them together witch gives you 50 and add 10 just to be safe thats what i did when i worked for a stereo shop and we never had any problems hope this helps. and the fuse for the head unit never really blows and if it did the deck will not turn on at all. redkarnage is right check the ground wire and power wire on the amp dont forget to check the small blue wire the amp turn on and if the sub smells like some thing that is burnt then you know its blown no good and also if ou cant smell for what ever reason or it does not check the sub push with both hands down on the middle of the sub and if it feels chunky and not smooth then its time to get a new one and check the sub wires them self in the box and out of the box good luck

dont mean to jack the thread but i am having the exact same problem. i have checked everything the exact same except for the wires in the back of the HU. all of my wires and all of the fuses are good everywhere else. i will be checking the back of my HU today to see if anything is loose there.
