Who here has done their own sub/amp setup install in the Mazdaspeed6?

I'm just asking cause I have two 12"s and and two 1000 watt amps.

I know how to wire a setup, I've done my own sub installs on the past 5 cars/trucks I've had

I know I can run the amp cable from the battery through the hole in the firewall and along the side under the panels along the driver side of the car, towards the back, but my question is

how did you get it through the back seats? I know they fold down if you remove the cover from the trunk and pull the latches, but I'm just wondering how people did their install through the rear seats.

That and how complicated was it to wire your amp to the factory CD/Radio unit? Normally it's not too difficult, but I haven't pulled out the panels and looked at the factory decks on the 6/speed6

So I'd like to know if I need any "special" tools for my speed6.....

Thanks for any help.

If all you are doing is connecting a subwoofer amp and subwoofer, you can tap into the audio signal from the wiring harness that plugs into the stock subwoofer. Check out the sticky threads in this section for a diagram that lists each wire in the harness. As far as getting wires to the trunk, just fold down the seat as you explained. There might be some other access holes but to get through them you'll have to remove the sides of the seats and stuff...not worth it when you can just fold the seat down.
