Stupid Stupid Question about Windows

Hey all,

I know this is a stupid question but I have never really noticed it. Are the rear windows supposed to go all the way down. Mine stay up about an inch. I have never really noticed if they go all the way down. 8,000 miles and a stupid window question.

no, they do not go all the way down.. this is due to the shape of the door and common on many cars in the back doors..

I think that it's supposed to be some sort of safety feature (or at least I think it used to be)...

Can't think of a reason to have it partly up, but that's the way they are on these cars. Just another lil' quirk about this unique car!

like i said, it's the shape of the door that limits us that last inch!! picture your window inside the door frame, and picture the bottom of the window glass.. once you are down as far as it will go, you'll see if you were able to go down that last inch, the bottom of the window glass would be hitting inside the door frame!!

I'm not sure about the protege but the reason the windows stay up a bit in the back (usually) is that they conflict with the placement of the wheel wells (since the windows are commonly curved a bit). On a lot of cars, if they went ALL the way down they would be sticking out and probably jabbing the wheel. Not sure about the protege though.
