Stubborn P1450 code...Any ideas? 2012 Mazda5

Hello everyone,

I'm new to posting here, but I've been a long-time reader and have always found the information and advice shared by the community to be incredibly valuable. So, I'm hoping someone can help me out with an issue I've been struggling with.

I own a 2012 Mazda 5 with a manual transmission and 220,000 km on it. For a while, I was getting a P1450 code, which seemed to be related to the EVAP system. I replaced the vapour canister purge valve/solenoid, vapour canister vent valve/solenoid, fuel tank cap, and intake manifold vacuum valve/solenoid, and the code disappeared for a while. However, it's come back again and I'm stumped.

I've done some research and tightened up all the hoses and connections I could find, but I'm not sure where else to look. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Mazda 5? Could it be a hose kink or blockage somewhere that's causing the issue? I'd love any suggestions or ideas on what could be causing this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

This is an interesting one...so you have TOO MUCH vacuum. This means that you don't have a leak but a blockage:
  • A blocked EVAP canister or vent solenoid
  • A defective tank pressure sensor
  • A collapsed or kinked hose between the canister and fuel tank
  • A fuel filler cap that has been stuck closed and prevents vacuum relief
Did you replace the charcoal canister assembly? Other than that, check for kinks/blockages or maybe figure the pressure sensor is bad.

Hey Negusm, thanks for getting back to me.
I did replace the charcoal canister assembly. I've swapped out all the parts suggested in forums and online searches related to this problem. I believe it might be a kink or blockage as you mentioned. The issue now is I'm not sure where else to check for these. I've looked in all the obvious spots but I'm stuck and running out of ideas.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I had the same code and ended up doing a smoke test to try and find the leak/blockage. Turns out all I had to do was take the cap off the gas cover and put it back on and the code went away. Hopefully just as simple? 🙏

Disconnect hoses and blow through them?

You didn't mention changing the sensor. It may be bad.

Hi there.
I have already changed the gas cap for a new one.
I will check the tank pressure sensor to see if that works.
Thank you!
