Struts for P5

Well, I just called my dealer, and either they're a bunch of dumbasses or they're just lazy. But they just told me that they don't sell them and that they don't fit the P5!

Has anyone done this mod yet? I'd hate to buy stock shocks when they're already going in to do the labour!

:bs: They do fit the P5. Some dealer install them as an upgrade. Don't by them from the dealer anyways, too expensive, goto madastuff.com for cheaper price.

90% of dealers are full of dumbaxx.
like hawkwind101 said, buy it from mazdastuff.com or try ebay.
if your dealer is nice then ask him for price match.
or you can get TEIn full set for over $1000.

yeah, but like you said... TEINs are over 1000.... I think SpoolinMP3 said 1300 to be exact... and then I also heard that Those TEINs are only entry level coilovers.....for that price its not worth it.. in my opinion.

how about Coilover set from SRmotorsports.com

An update on the shocks situation:

I e-mailed mazdastuff.com for canadian pricing and fitment for the re-valved struts and got this as a response...

"that kit only fits the 2001-2003 Protege sedans, not the Protege 5. We use UPS for shipping to Canada. If you start to place an order on the web site, you will get a shipping quote before you enter in your credit card info. I have no way of knowing what customs fees, duty fees, or whatever
would be.
thanks, Richard"

(sad1)

Well, at least they were quick with the response. I guess, I should just concentrate on the repair and save up... AGAIN!!

This is such a pissoff cause this was the summer for mods. I'd let insurance cover it but I can't take the increase. That's what happens when you let family drive your car!!! At least no one got injured! OH WELL! *sigh*

The struts WILL fit the P5. There are several members on this board with them.

No, I didn't get the shocks...

I don't know where everybody on the board got their MP3 or mazdaspeed adjustable shocks from... but I e-mailed mazdastuff and a bunch of aftermarket places around here and got negative responses... either it won't seat properly or i'll get it to you in 4 months....

I need my car, so I got it repaired with the stock shocks for $100 CDN a piece.

The damage on the struts was extensive.... the shaft of the struts were bent to a crescent shape... I don't quite know how fast my bro had to go to do that... but as you can see I can't ride on those for very long.

So, I am saving up again!

As for the rims... yeah both side are bent and can't even be balanced. I have to ride on steelies until next year. It seems like every shop I've gone to has been backordered on every lightweight rim out there (sans Volk). Then again I can't fork out that much yet.

CanMp5, from what I heard those MSP shocks can be used, I spoke with www.mazdastuff.com and they said they didn't know either. Who here on this board is a P5 that has these shocks and have them used them for a long time???

crazy_d has had MP3 struts for as long as he's owned his car. In fact, the dealership installed the entire MP3 suspension: struts, springs and swaybars, for him.

You guys should PM him about the fitment. I have a set of MP3 struts sitting in the garage at the moment, waiting to be installed. If my TEIN springs arrive this weekend, they'll be going in. I'll let you guys know how the installation goes.

So I guess it's confirmed the MP3 and MSP shocks work with the P5 and I'm sure it performs better in corners and realibility than the OEM.
