Strut Help

ok this one is a little hard to describe. I put the new struts on along with some stock springs last night and there is a sound coming from the rear. while driving it sounds kinda like the strut is hitting against the strut tower as if it werent tightened down all the way even though it is. i always double/triple check to make sure all bolts are tight. hope someone knows what im talkin about.

probably the sway bar or endlinks, check to make sure the endlinks are tightened all the way
if there loose they make like a clunking sound

Ill double check them i know they were as tight as i could get them. but yeah it is a clunking sound. the endlinks are cheap enough should i just buy new ones?

I would also check the center nut. I thought I had mine tight but once I got the car on the ground it became apparent the nut was loose. You can use a vice grip to grab the lip of the strut mount from inside the car to help you tighten that nut.

IMHO, you should always replace the endlinks when you replace your struts.

i hit it with an impact until the it started turning but I'll check it again .

Didn't even cross my mind yesterday but I'll remeber that.

You're lucky where you live without snow. I think 98% of us have had to cut off the old endlinks because they were rusted on so badly. Then they have to get replaced anyways, so you might as well just build it into the routine.

When I put my Tokico's on, there was a tiny amount of play at the top of the rear mount. Even when the nut was fully tightened. I put 2 washers under each nut and that did it. This seems to be a re-occuring issue with lowered cars.

It would have been easier to cut them off haha. I wish i would have had t-handle allen wrenches too my hand hurts like hell today. plus one of the 14mm nuts on the endlink was stripped as hell.

I'll keep that in mind. I actually just raised the car back up too.
