Ok so this is the second time this has happened, after i drive the car if i stop i noticed that it was smoking kinda bad...not black but grey smoke, i just had my oil changed and the motor mount issue fixed so i cheked my oil and its fine and then if i take off again it will stop or if i restart the car it stops. anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? should i be worried?
and i dont have any exhaust mods...only mod is the MS CAI.

Maybe it's running rich. If I remember right that will cause smoke. I don't know how it would be though. My only other guess would be too much oil but you checked that already.

Ya i mean i know the cars run rich to start with but this has never happened till i got my oil changed.

anyone else....

They probably dripped or spilled oil somewhere on your engine. it will burn off in a few days. If its still there, take it in.

+1 this is common after an oil change but if it doesn't get better definitely take it in.

i change my own oil then you knows its done coreectly, one of those news tv shows did a report on jiffy lube and discovered 6 times out of 10, 60% of the time they did NOT do the work them claimed and charged for

What is 60% of 6 out of 10? 32%?

well i can see oil getting spilled but where would you have to spill it for it to come out of the exhaust...and its not all the time.

White smoke when first started is normal. If white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket. Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition. Blue smoke is caused by oil consumption. The smell of coolant inside your car is caused by a leaking heater core.

Take it to Mazda and have them do a full inspection. If you got it at Heritage Mazda, talk to Mike the service manager, he's a cool guy and will get it fixed.

ya i usually deal with mike...do you think it could be something that seriouse as a cracked head or blown gasket if it only does it sometimes and then stops? seems like it only happens in the morning when its cooler out.

on a side note...where are you located?

someone said this on another thread. white smoke= water/coolent black/blue smoke=oil. could be the seals in the turbo...its seeming more common than id like to hear. a few people have had problems.

yes lots of problems with that over on the 6 side... blow by is never a good thing.. he said he had no exhaust mods though so it wouldnt be likly that its the seals cuz most of the problems when people have blown seals is when they have a downpipe on the car...theres a thread on the forum about how to change the oil... do it yourslef that way u know its done right.. i will never take my speed to the dealership ever again after last time.

Sorry about the delay of reponse. This forum doesn't send me notification emails whenever someone replies to a thread. Anyways, I'm located in Bel Air and I work at the Verizon store across from the Festival. There's another one of us in a Silver MS3 with similar work that I have done.

Update: How's the car coming along, did they check it out?

i heard something about, "it's just turbo waste".. or something like that.. i heard that it's fine, my car does that too (sometimes), only when i floor it though...

this afternoon i was pulling back on to rt-20 in charlton MA...irrelevant....anywho...i was pulling back onto the road and when i shifter into third it delayed for a sec then busted loose and a cloud of black death came out the back. hahaha. i about s*** myself when i looked in the rear view and saw what looked like a swarm of bugs infesting two lanes of traffic. oooohh man, i love soot, good times good times
