Stock suspension

K I was at the dealership a couple weeks ago waiting for my oil to get changed and I tried a Mazda6. It's nice and all (WAY quieter than my P5) but the suspension is definitely not as stiff. Then I got to thinking...I don't really remember a car I've driven that had a suspension this stiff (my last car was a '90 Legend, so it's a pretty obvious change from that to the P5).

Anyway, I think that I'll end up giving my P5 to my parents within a few years (my mom fell in love with it when I first drove it up to my parents' home). Do you guys have any suggestions as to what cars have similar suspensions to the P5/MSP?

Thanks for the input on this....I'm just trying to get an idea as to what cars have suspensions on par or better than ours.

well for the price its unparalleled. if you're looking for a new car with good handling... I say lanevo or wrx :D

stock WRX's are actually fairly soft...The STi and EVO are not...
Evo is pretty soft, we have done a set of custom coil-overs for it. The spring rate in the front is like ~150 lbs/inch and the rear is ~225 lbs/inch. The Struts in the front are valved roughly ~400 rebound and ~150 compression and the rears are ~250 rebound and ~200 - 250 compression at 10 inches/sec.

I thought the Evo had a stiffer suspension than the STi, as many magazines said the STi's ride was plusher and more forgiving than the Evo.

Damn it now I confused myself...The stock WRX is the softest of the three...the STi is the straightline performer, but is the middle as far as stiffness...The EVO is the stiffest and offers the best handling of the three, but gets fed tail lights a little by the STi in a straightline..

I deleted my other post, I had a little too much to drink last night...

That is very stiff for a production car...in comparison...Tein's S-Tech springs for a P5 increase the spring rates to 175lbs/in front, 145lbs/in rear...and those are much stiffer than the stock springs...

The ride would probably be comparable between the Tein'd P5 and EVO...The evo is stiffer, but weighs 300lbs or so more...

Agreed, thats pretty stiff for a production street car. The evo has the stiffer suspension over the sti.

Does anybody know the spring rates for the MP3 or MSP?

and that if Eibach pro-kit or H&Rs are used... would the struts eventually need to be replaced?
