Stock MS3 2008 wheels with 225/40 R18

Ok I blew out one of my tires, the replacement 215/45 is hard to find down here, and I was thinkin on replacing my tires with 225/40 R18 keeping the stock wheels.

Any experiences with this setup?

Any advice? I might also consider 235/40 R18 is it safe with the stock 7.5" wheel?

Thanks in advance.

The 2008 wheels are 7" wide. 225/40 would be an acceptable substitute, as would 225/45.

235/40 would be pretty darn wide for a 7" wheel, but I'm sure you could get it to mount up.

I thought 2008 wheels were 7.5" I will measure them today ????

if that's the case is it ok to use 235/40 R18 ??

Thanks!

If you've already bought 235s, I wouldn't panic, it's probably fine. 225s would be better though.

You were right I physically measured my wheels and the stock wheels fot 2008 are 7"

Given that, I went with the 225 / 40 R18 Nexen's (N1000) we will see how they perform...

The 225 / 40 R 18 look great but according to the manufacturer the minimum rim width should be 8" The tires handle really well on cornering or braking, but awful on zigzag I can upset the car relly easy doing zig zag, Do you think this is beacause of the 7" rims or is this a problem with the tires?

I don't feel the precision on steering that my MS3 used to have with the 215/45 R18 ...

any thoughts?
