Stock audio with crossover?

I have a MS3 with the Bose system and I was wondering if you could use a crossover or maybe a low pass filter to seperate low, mids, and highs? Where lows would only go to the sub and the mids and highs to the door speakers. This is with keeping the system otherwise stock. Is this possible?

You can add what is called Bass blockers that you can get at crutchfield. I am not sure if they have something like treble blockers though. Super easy to install.

Thanks for the replies, I may just have to look into replacing the speakers, sub and factory amp. I want to be able to keep my factory headunit though.

If you search for posts made by Fourthmeal and myself, you will find lots of info about the JL audio cleansweep (me) and the Rockford 3Sixty.2 (Fourthmeal).

Both are system integration units that allow you to add on after market stuff and keep the factory head unit.

I wouldn't buy anything from crutchfield., but you're getting the right idea.

What you need is something to isolate your signal output from the bose head unit into RCA's (this is debatable as I mentioned before, but it is what I would do.)

You will also want a crossover function, adjustable.

I would recommend a Memphis 16XO3, which runs $129. I need to do a bit more research at home (instead of work) for you, but I'll see what it does to verify if it is the best choice.

The Kicker 3-way looks good too.

I would recommend looking at woofersetc.com and sonicelectronix.com though, both of them have served me fairly well over the years.

From there, you'll need to run fresh wiring to the doors, which is "fun". Check out my install page link, found on my signature, for help with this. From there, its a matter of amps and maybe a sub. Forget about the rears, btw. Just leave them alone, and let the bose thing deal with it. Ideally, your front stage should sound so good that you don't need rears.

So can I run just the kicker 3-way or the memphis 16XO3 without any other mods? I'm probably not going to do the install myself, but I wanted to keep the process as simple as possible and with the fewest modifications as possible.
