I was asked what I wanted for christmas, so I started shopping on SU's website and seen that they still sell the MSCAI! What's up with this?

they don't really update their website stock though. I had ordered a couple of things that they didn't actually have and discovered were on backorder. But their side never stated so, even after they told me. Its likely they don't have them.

Okay sounds good, I won't have high hopes then. The MSCAI is more expensive than the AEM and it's virtually the same exact intake. Weird! I guess that non-warranty-voiding power costs extra!

they just did some really bad business here. mainly just unethical approach to business i guess. the site doesn't want to associate with someone that does bad business.

Don't go on one post. The link is removed b/c they're not a sponsor on this site, I'm guessing. Get more details on what the "unethical business" was before you decide not to do business with them. I've bought at least two items from them and got good service both times.

I've heard alot of good from them locally with the MI guys. That was the first time I had read anything bad about them. But thanks for clarifying that!

Maintaining a warranty is pretty cool in my book. Less headaches, and hey, it's Mazdaspeed and that's the kind of vehicle I bought, so I like the idea of Mazdaspeed accessories (if available). I understand it's no different really than the AEM intake.

Reason it got pulled off the market was because of the CEL's. It's been discovered that the lack of an air straightner really causes the issue. CP-E has documented this for a while now, and AEM finally started selling their CAI with the straightner. Alot of people who bought the air straightner seperate and installed on their MSCAI's logged much safer and BETTER Long Term Fuel Trims's.

So it's not a POS after all, it just needed an air straightner.

Oh, and DRYFLOW AEM Filter FTW!

You aren't going to be maintaining your warranty with it. There's not definite answer as to what really caused the issue with the POS either. If you’re hell bent on getting a CAI over a SRI or you just want an intake because you can’t find a Cobb SRI than I would suggest the CPE CAI. I've dealt with SU on a few occasions and have received fair service each time by the way.

there are no warranty issues unless the installation of the item ***** up your car in some way and can be shown to be the cause.

no Urinary Olympic Events here please. just go ask your service adviser at the dealer of your choice. most are cool with a simple intake so long as it doesn't throw a code.

On paper at least, you're not maintaining your warranty with the MS-CAI unless it is installed by the dealer before you take initial possession of the car. Look at the Green warranty, it's replacement the warranted part only. Not word one about any damage it might cause to other parts. So, in writing, you have nothing. In practice, however, dealers appear to treat like it is fully warranted.

Well my service tech would just look it over and write it up like they installed it, for proof.

The cai i have was dealer installed at purchase. They are still good to me and with my mods the car runs pretty good. POS. I am not too sure about that, when stock plus big IC the car ran nice #s and no issues. Now alot more stuff is on and with an ecu that relies on maf, well you will have to tune for increased flow and such. period.

For a part like this, its so easy to replace quickly that I wouldn't sweat the warranty. If you're that worried about it, carry around the stock box. You could swap it back in in 10-15 minutes.
