evo, it has the better motor of the 2 in my opinion, even though the sti motor is larger. Keep in mind if i had the thing it wouldn't stay stock for long so aftermarket is a big deal for me.

Your incredibly ignorant. The 4g63 is one of the strongest stock powerplants EVER created and the no the EVo does NOT have the same build as the old talon's or mitsubishi's. It boosts 11-12 psi @ redline NOT 19 psi and it maintained 2.0 Liter since these are mimicking RALLY CARS which have a limit of 2.0 Liter. Besides the Mitsubishi handles, steers, brakes better than the STi and when the Evolution MR comes out it will do that ever better PLUS be WAY faster than the STi
I am curious. So is 12 psi the max boost the EVO runs?
I heard Mitsu limited the boost to 11 psi in 1st gear to help w/ traction. Is that true?
Thanks.

^^^ tell him Dr.Sound like it is.!!!:D
BTW i'd get evo any day over any car on the market right now if i had the cash. and once i do , be sure that's the car i'll be driving.
Looks waaay better hten sti imo(although its subjective)
reliability i'd say about even, cause both of those models were on JDM for a while, and proved to be reliable performace machines the only diff in japan sti has a 2.0 , here they came with 2.5. its just evo is more agile, lighter and 19 LB of boost ....good god, i love that....
evo.....evo....evo......(day dreaming ....dont wanna wake up!)

the evo peaks at 19psi but drops off towards redline..some evo onwers get a fdynoflash or mbc and keep it at 19psi all the time...the stock evo motor can handle well over 400whp with out internals check out the new evo shoot out in i think it was sport compact or another mag?...the sti motor has had major issues when modifications, its a new model and has had its fair share of snags......i think 1st mp3 in nh posted a topic him and some sti owners were tlakin about that the sti is relaly hard to work on modification wise and is with us msp owners in that respect. and you have to understand that mistu has evolved the 4g63 over more then a decade and its nothing like the dsm's of old......the tranny included :) if u havent noticed...i plan to get a evo in a couple years....or a tt g35....hehe

lol. he said 'how dumb can you be to put 19psi on a stock engine'

im pretty positive mitsu knows how much boost a motor can handle, and 19 is nothin for that motor....

lol u gotta learn sometime i guess...the stock evo block can take a good 25lbs from the stock 16g twin scroll.....like i said....there are guys pushin well over 400whp on the stock block and still truckin fine

im sure there are much better turbos, i know hks makes a kit for it. its not about the block tho, its about your pistons and rods and valves and crank all that that internal stuff. im sure with enough stuff you could run 2bar+

I know that the Evo has the better handling of the two but the power the STI is awesome!!I would definitely get the STI.Now,I hope Subaru has an answer to the upcoming EVO MR.

Im not sure what the specs on the internals of the engine is, but Nick at Wagner is pushing 30lbs of boost on , I believe, a T66.

LOL.... geeks... "yea... u know the rb26329-a4rge has it's advantages, but i'd take the jblr4521-a36 anyday!" haha... jk. So can anyone explain why Mazda would go with such a messed up ECU for thier RENESIS? Like I guess I can understand that they did it to get the engine to perform the way they wanted with the car, but didn't they ever think ahead to turbo applications for the engine? Or is it maybe they engineered it that way so ppl would have a hard time crackin into it... This way, maybe they could turn out the only turbo version of the RENESIS on thier mazdaspeed version... and ppl would have no choice but to go with buying a mazdaspeed RX-8 just to have it turbo'ed... I dunno... what do u guys think?

they thought of truboeing the RX-8, but rotary with turbo proved to have poor reliability record so they gave it up. Mazdaspeed RX-8 is not going to be sold in US. only the mazdaspeed kit will be sold.....separetely from the car, and turbo is NOT included.

wow... that's kind of a turn off... not so hyped about that car anymore...
So in terms of getting some reliable power increase from that engine, would it still be possible to go the N/A route and still have some substantial gains? The only thing I really don't like about the rx8 is that it's engine seems a bit weak, and that mazda's not making it easy to bring any more power out of it because of reliability issues and whatnot. For most modders, I would think that reliability is a concern, and if they can't reliably bring more power out of an engine it'd be kind of a turnoff right? anyone agree?

I like the comment one of the top gear guys made when comparing the two...

the evo is like a f16 fighter, light, nimble, and fast... While the STI is like a f15 fighter bomber, powerful, solid, and overall more confident

Oh, and though the EVO really has grown on me, I'd still hafta go for the STI - after driving both first of course...who knows, maybe I'd like the way the EVO feels better...ah well, who cares - I'm not seeing either one of those in my driveway anytime soon. :(
