does anyone know if the Factory optional subwoofer that you could purchase in 2003 for the protege 5 can be put in the 2002 model with the supplied wiring harness. and if you need to make modifications does anyone have the wiring diagram ? any and all help would be appreciated !!!!!!!!! THANKS TO ALL !!!!!!!!!

It's not really worth it, you can barely hear the stock sub. But yes if you have the harness it should wire right in, it gets signal from the rear speakers which is less than ideal for a clean sound.

somewhere there is a how to on making a fiberglass sub box that fits in the pocket of the rear hatch. I did this for a 8" kicker sub and mounted a small amp under the driver seat. Very happy witht he results

I already had an 8" in a small box so I just threw it in the back and put the amp under the seat as well. It sounded great with the hatch. I have the same sub in my MSP in the stock sub/amp rack and it doesn't sound nearly as loud.
