Hey everyone, got a bit of an issue I was hoping someone could help with.
Twice now, I've come out to my Speed3 to find that it won't start. I check the battery voltage, and it's usually hovering within the 10v-11.2v range. This always happens when I let the car sit for more than two days. And if I disconnect the battery and let it sit, (like I did over a two-week vacation), it holds the charge just fine and starts normally upon reconnecting.
The only two electric things I've changed on the car was hardwiring a radar detector and install a Stebel Nautilus horn. The radar is hardwired to a switched source in the headliner, so it's not pulling anything when the car is off. However, the Nautilus is wired with the included relay, just as the diagram that came with it shows.
When my car wouldn't start this morning, before I did anything, I noticed that the relay was warm to the touch, even though the car was totally cold. I tested all the connectors on the relay, and there's no voltage leak from any where there shouldn't be, (the switched 12v source, the hot 12v source from the fuse box).
Is it possible the relay is going bad, and there's a short in it? Any other thoughts?
I thought that MAYBE the issue might be when I set the alarm, the small amount of voltage sent through the relay doesn't close it completely, causing a draw?
Thanks everyone!
