Hey everyone, new to these forums.
So my wife's 2003 protege ES 2.0l wouldn't start yesterday. Had symptoms of a bad battery, headlights wouldn't come on, dash lights would dim power locks and windows won't work.
We were able to jump the car no problem, it cranked slowly but started right away. Put a new battery in but is still doing the same thing. But I was able to jump it again and everything runs fine.
Now with the key turned to ACC or On, the dash and dome lights are on but if I turn the headlights on, touch the brakes or try to start it, everything goes dead, then the dash and dome lights slowly come back on.
I tested the battery, it's good. I get a bit of a voltage drop when testing the ground wire. All the fuses are good
I'm thinking it's gotta be a connection somewhere, but would a bad solenoid connection cause the whole circuit to fail? I'm thinking a bad battery cable but I would really appreciate any ideas and help..
Thanks, and apologies if this is in the wrong place.
