SRI too noisy...

Well I installed the Cobb SRI and TIP over this weekend. Pretty simple actually. However I am a little concerned about the new sounds associated with it. I understood when I bought the product there would be some additional intake "growl" or whooshing, but this is a little annoying to me. Everything is hooked up properly and fits very snug, with no leaks I assume. How would I know if I had a leak? The noise is not what I expected. It's hard to describe really. I can only say that it's very high pitched like I have locusts or secadas following me where ever I go. For those with this combo, do you experience the same effects? BTW, under normal driving it's less noticeable, only when your on the gas! Must say I love the butt dyno it's giving me!!

Thats the SRI. If yo dont like it you can try modding the stock air box.

The CAI is worse for noise that the SRI, so I wouldnt bother with it if I were you.

Oh OK, I thought mine had a problem. Good to know it's working as advertised. It's not unbearable, just something I'll get used to.

As an aside, anyone ever had a heat shield fabbed for the SRI?

Yeah, it's just the sound of that intake sucking air---and lots of it. The more the better. Have fun.

So you bought this stuff without listening to the videos and reading the other responses on the forum about the noises? That sucks. Perhaps next time a little research might go in your favor.
On a brighter note, if you find it too unbearable, there are plenty of people on the forum that would love to take that stuff off of your hands.

COBB has one on their MS3. If they sold it to the public people would go crazy for them. I want one!

What is the basis of this statement? I've run the MSCAI in SRI mode and in CAI mode and it is way quieter in CAI mode.

The basis of that statement is my ears.
I had AEM CAI, and sold it, couldnt stand the noise.
I got a Cobb SRI instead, much better by my ears, of course this is all personal opinion. it is like music or exhaust tone.
The Cobb SRI is louder than stock, but bearable for me, the CAI was not bearable for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY happy with the intake. I can tell a huge difference over stock. Just wanted opinions on the intake whoosh. The kids haven't asked what it is yet, so I guess it's not that noticeable to them.

If its only when you step on it than whats the big deal :). Most people love the noise but you could always put hte stock airbox back on with a K and N filter.

I installed my CP-e SRI first and then the CP-e TIP. Probably about two weeks between the two. Things were definitely louder once the TIP was installed. Glad I got the TIP because now I can really hear things :)

You'll get used to it, the stock airbox might be quieter but you've got a part that has much better performance.

My Dad drove a VW bus for most of my childhood...til I traded it straight up for a '68 Mustang coupe when he wasn't at home, lol

My Dad drove a series of Mustangs as well as a bright yellow 1970 Torino GT fitted with laser stripes, a 351C and shaker hood. It looked something like this:

true. The MSCAI is very quiet vs other intakes. A typical CAI though, aside from AEM and MS is much louder. I have had an Injen CAI, Cobb SRI, and a MSCAI... the Injen is by far the loudest with the MSCAI (in CAI form) the quietest. AEM/MS filters due a good job at reducing the noise...switch filters and it's very obvious. Cobb's setup is still quiet because it uses no metal parts, the silicon tube and plastic housing are great for reducing heat...and noise.
