wuh sup everyone....the questions I have might be stupid but truthfully I don't have to much money to spend on just one thing. what would be better springs or coilovers? I don't want to have all that bouncing all over the place. I have some 18's and if I have a full load in my MP5 I tend to rub in the back. I just want some what of a drop maybe about a 1 and 2"s front and back. Like I said I don't want to go around and have to change everything from my suspension or do I? So if someone can please clarify this for me.

thanks

I just bought a set of MSP off of someone and they work great. I don't even know why someone would change these. Do a search in this section if you can't find something then post back there are alot of springs out there. But remember with coilovers (skunk2 or ground control) that there will be some serious noise occasionally and will always make popping noises when you turn because of the spring perch setup.

I miss read some of your post please if you already rub then inspect what is rubbing prior to lowering your car. These are big safety risks if you lower it you may wear a tire through or something bad could happen while driving. Sometimes it is just the plastic that protects the fuel lines that can just be trimmed. LLowering your car with those specific wheel may be a bad idea. What type of wheels and what is the, width and offset? What type of tire and size?

Nope nothing else really to buy. Springs that lower the car more than a inch may cause more wear on your struts but those are replaceable.

I agree with Dave...Get the rubbing issue solved first. I can't even imagine having that much stuff in my car to where it rubbed at stock height. I used to have the Skunk2 coilovers, and it was nice that they were adjustable, but it really rode rough all the way down. At the height I used them at, they were fine, but you can get that same drop from a spring. Springs are about half the cost of coilovers, and normally offer a much smoother ride.
Dave, I'm glad to hear you like the springs...Everything install ok?

Yep they worked like a champ no problems once so ever, did them the other night. They ride great thanks again for the deal.

No problem Dave, glad I could help you out...
Kre8...This is a pic of my car with the Spool springs.

It rides very close to what it does stock, and they are easy to install. Do a search on some springs. You've got a lot of good options.
SPRINGS:Spool, TEIN, H&R, Goldline, ION(the only ones I can think of right now.)
COILOVERS: Ground Control or Skunk2

thank you both for your help....the rubbing I pretty much know what it is....I have to probably bend the inside of the back fender in a little or all the way. I have some 18's with 225/35 I think ugghz I hate when I can't remember things. all i remember is that I used Rishie's guide to get my wheels and tires. So the stock MSP springs would give me some what of a drop oh and by that pic is hot as hell.

if money is a issue i would say springs fore sure. i think the ground control units are like 500 bucks, and the skunk2's are prob about the same. the springs are only like 250 right?

From what I've seen...you can get the coilovers for around $300-$350, and the springs are around $160-$220(roughly).

are the prices from hook up via the forum or MSRP ? also what springs did u see for under 200 ??? i would love to get MY hands on some!

springs & coilovres cheap

I have seen coilovers and springs on E-bay for under $100 ea. I'm interested in lowering my 2003 MP5 but don't want to loose the great ride that she has. Any suggestions would be helpful

Don't buy anything from e-bay you get what you pay for. Unless they are Tein, Eibach, RacingBeat,Ion, and Spool. Those are my top 5. I personally choose springs just simply so you will not affect your ride quality.

Those are all right around the $200 mark. I got my Spool Springs for $200 in the group buy. The Skunks I had, I got for $325 but that was with a little hook up. I wouldnt pay more than $200 for springs though.

Dont get Skunks. Hell, we've got some at our house if you want them...ask Ghost if he wants to get rid of them...he hated them like a passion. lol

Loracroft, what is wrong with skunks? 2k3 Mazdaspeed, Y did you purchase new springs? Is there anything wrong with the skunks you had?

Do to the way they sit in the spring perch they make alot of noise. While turning and sometimes under hard corners. They are bouncy and overall booty. Ground controls are a little better but still not what I want. Just my opinion.

I was just on e-bay and found some Tein Springs for about $140 + $30 for shipping. But they don't state how much they will lower the car.
