Has anyone received the replacement SPOOL springs for the rear yet? Anyone installed them? Any difference so far and got any pics?

Was there another set of replacement springs sent out, or are you talking about the ones that went out like 2 months ago? I got mine a few months agou, and they were the same height(if not higher) than stock. I ended up chopping off 1 1/2 coils, and it's STILL not even with the front. Oh well, it's better than it was:rolleyes: I can't chop any more though...Too worried to try it.

Yeah, I talked to Terry about this. Seems to be an MSP thing... the stock struts being different than other Pros make the springs work differently.

I have the revised ones also (for my P5), but haven't installed them yet.

yeah, there was a replacement batch that went out and I was wondering if anoyone had the newer batch installed yet and if they were better.

It worked for me...I got it down about .75"-1" from the F*d up hieght they were.

looks gewd to me. do you think you could cut more than that and be ok? Did you cut from the top or bottom?

I dont think 2K3 cut his springs ... I just think that is how his replacement springs sit.

i dunno about all the batches.

I bought spool springs during the summer to get my car lowered. I got bad rear springs, and got replacements sent to me by the end of summer. shelled out a cple hundred_ to have 4 springs put in with an alignment and put my replacements on and the back of my MSP was HIGHER than stock. I was VERY disappointed and confirmed with terry several tiems that the rears shouldnt need to settle. I then put my stock springs back in the rear and paid another 100-200 bucks for spring install and alignment and at this point, i want my god damned back to be as low as it should be but have been too frustrated to call terry since I cant forsee any solution he could offer me since it just appears to be a problem with MSPs and im not in the mood to spend MORE money to have MORE springs put back in the rear now........cuz what happens if THOSE are higher than stock too? Then my 4 springs and install would have cost me as much as some coilovers and I would still have stock springs int he rear.

Terrible.

If anyone is trying to get him to rebatch some springs to work on their MSPs let me know cuz if he doesnt im gonna have to buy some eibachs or something in the spring and then I wont be able to give favorable reviews to ppl about the spools. (already they look at my jacked up rear and ask what springs and I have to tell emt he story)

No, these ARE the replacements, and YES I cut them. I wasn't sure about where to cut them, so I started at the top. I took a full coil off, only to realize it BARELY fit back in the perch. Put them back in, and it only dropped it about .5" I took them back out, and started with half a coil on the bottom. Put them back in, and that's wher it is now. The MSP just has stiff struts in the back. If I cut much more off, the coil may be loose from the strut itself. I don't want that.

So I gather that the replacement springs dont give it the "gas station" stance either? Is this only a MSP problem or for all the rear SPOOL springs?

Yeah, but not this nice ...

The main reason so many people went with SPOOL springs is because it shows support for another Mazda enthusiast and forum member, not to mention that Terry's car looks dope in that gas station pic ... besides they are the only springs out that offer a 2'' drop. It's a shame that they dont give a 2'' drop in the rear.
