Spin-on ready for the next oil change

Got my filter conversion kit, the K&N HP 1002 filter that came with it, a NAPA Gold filter that's larger and my Quick Oil Change Valve, all ready to go. I may waste a crankcase of fresh oil just to "git 'er done". Gonna try to wait 'til at least 4K miles (yes)

i'm almost convinced myself to try the spin-on filter adapt- can you do this w/o changing the oil, or is oil gonna come out when doing the install? i've only got 800 mi since the last oil change....what to do?(dunno)

just went to NAPA and they didn't have the WIX filters. they said their NAPA GOLD series filters are just WIX filters relabled. the part# is very close also, 1516. the NAPA guy said they drop the first number off the WIX part# and that correlates to the correct NAPA GOLD filter.

you think this is right? also, how many quarts of oil does it take to fill this thing up when using the WIX filter?

thanks

After starting this thread 8 pages ago, I finally installed my spin-on adapter today. The single screw in the top of the oil cooler is a PITA, but the install is straightforward. Anyone who says it is super-easy must own a regular 3, not the MS3 See the attached pictures in numerical order for:

I do not recommend the Wix 51516 filter for the B3000. It is longer and very lightly touches the lower plastic shroud. The Tribute version is shorter and should not have this problem. I will switch to the Tribute version at the next oil change. It appears that with the short filter, you could reach through the hole in the shroud and change the filter without removing the shroud, although it would probably be a little messy. This combination took 6.5 quarts to fill to the top hole on the dipstick.

Any pics with the sandwich plate adapter? I would like to run an oil pressure gauge when I do this mod and want to see the differences in clearances.

K&N Filter #2009 works well

That's what I have lined up for mine. I bought a NAPA Gold and the converter came with a HP1002. After that, it's the HP2009s for a while (Amazon had 'em on sale for $10).

This is true, NAPA Gold = private label WIX
