Spicey MSP Build underway!!!

Your best option would definitely be to go with a standalone. That way you can make full use of your built motor. Though if it is not in the budget right now, you could pick up an FIC for about the same price as an SSAFC. It can perform pretty well if you wire it properly, but that is easier said than done. Here is a long, but very informational thread about the FIC that I started after I bought one.

Having an issue with the Pope downpipe. First didnt come with hadware or a new gasket. Second, the pipe touches the turbo return fitting and keeps the header from seating correctly on the head. Pretty pissed about the flange too. I had to cut a relief for the one of the upper bolts where the dpipe meets the turbo because the hole was too close to the pipe and I couldn't find a stainless "spacer". It seems to be one problem after another with this thing.

First off it doesn't come with hardware or gasket (never mentioned it coming with that stuff on the site). Two if you did a little bit of research on the product its all mentioned on review threads. Three its been mentioned that some people use spacers and some people grind away a little bit on the downpipe. My installer ground away on the downpipe just a little to make room for the bolt heads.

Edit: now it touching the return fitting are you talking about the oil return line fitting? Please provide pictures. Im sure if you contact the pope he will do what he can to help correct the issue.

All I'm saying about the hardware and gasket is that the fact it didn't come with it meant that the I had to find it and finding stainless metric studs is almost impossible, which was a pain. I wrote that post fully knowing it wasn't advertised as coming with it. Also I saw the pics on his website, and I couldn't find stainless spacers. In my opinion you have to be all stainless on an exhaust unless you want it rusting out so I couldn't follow that model. I made a relief for the one bolt, I just hope the DP doesn't fail there. And yes it was hitting the fitting that is bolted to the Upper Oil Pan, and keeping the header from seating right. I'll go take a pic of it after I finish this post.

The main thing I feel I am doing is letting people know this DP is difficult to install and that there will be bumps along way to installing it. I didn't say it sucks or don't buy it, I am just sharing my experience with it.

It's really close to being fine I'm going to try to loosen the flange bolts and readjust it and hopefully make a little room

Now you know why most people don't have a 3" downpipe on their MSP. From what I've been told, most people have problems with the thermostat housing being in the way.

Did the readjust it is soooo close, but NOT touching anymore!! Also got pretty much got everything sewed up just gotta take it off the engine stand, put the clutch together and then the transmission WHOO!

I would highly suggest that you trade the 626 in for a 505 manifold. It will perform much better, especially when you are running higher than stock boost.

Sorry I guess I just took your post the wrong way. And as far as it being that close to the AC bracket. I had to or well to be corret the exhaust shop had to trim off of that bracket as well to make room. And that is pretty damn close to the oil fitting! I don't think anyone else that im aware of had that issue. God forbid if that line ever leaks in that area!

Thanks StealthWyvern for understanding I just can't wait for it to run. Got the engine back in the car tonight as well! Should be starting it hopefully by Sunday!
