Speeding Law Passes

Dang, this is yet another harsh legislative session.

Stiffer penalties for speeders. 1st offense is $500 fine, 30-day license suspesion, and community service...dang! It gets stiffer the as the offense increases...this will not be in effect until 2007, supposedly. I didn't get the full gest of this particular bill.

Hee hee...HPD rep. states that the fastest speed clocked was on the H-3 at 140 mph...guy pauses for a bit and reluctantly states...in which the person was caught...

I was not able to keep up w/ the race park bill. They better get funding or open another one up on Oahu some how...I guess that's one of many reasons why the above bill is being passed.

Smoking ban will be passed. I think it was no smoking in any pubic place?

I think the waiting for the pedestrian in the cross walk violation on drivers was axed at this time but will go up in next years legislative session. Another bill that I think was axed was the gas cap law.

Of course, the govenor can veto these bills, we'll just have to see what happens. She has done some strange vetoing last legislative session so we'll just have to see how things fall into place...it is election year so...

I guess a lot of this is for the better...depending on opinions. I'm just recaping what I heard on the news. It'll be more clear in tomorrows newspapers, I believe. Well...just giving a heads up on what's going on w/ our laws here...peace!

stupid anti smoking crap. its like saying gays cant get married.

I disagree completely. People smoking in public harm other people. Gays getting married don't. Hence, smoking in public should be banned (it already is in NJ & NY), while gay marriage should be legalized :)

i'm pretty sure it'll have to be like 10+ over the speedlimit, because people will argue that their speedometer read speedlimit.

good point.

oh also its 30 over the speed limit or 80+ anywhere on the island

looks like HPD will be able to get paid their overtime. like how they tried on Febuary saying they will be stricter on trafiic violations for that whole month

update...thank GOD they did not pass the law on internet sales tax. it will be brought back up again next legislative session next year.

i think they said the gas cap is indeed axed unless the prices get ridiculously high, then they'll be warranted to re-activate the gas cap law at that point including singapore into the formula or something to that factor. they were mentioning the phantom gas cap law...ai sos!!!

another law that passed was some sort of tax credit for husband & wife filing taxes. something like a $1,000 tax break for them.

public schools are approved several mil to fix up the schools...however, i think they get money every year but i really don't c much being done to the schools until the school is practically falling on the students...

lingle was very disappointed that the yielding to pedestrians in a crosswalk law was axed...however, she did not veto...i'm sure this one will be presented again next legislative session as well....

well...that's all the new stuff i know 4 now...

woah...

DUI excessively drunk will get your license plates confenscated (sp), in turn, you get a paper DUI? license plate that will remain on your car for 30 days? ok...i didn't get the full gest on this one but that caught my attention LOL! i gotta c this 1 work!

3-strikes law has passed for repeat offenders, i believe it's for violent type crimes.

ok, that excessive speeding law...if you are caught doing +30 over the posted speed limit or +80 period...that will get you that nice jail time, fine, and community service and so on for each offense there after.

I do 30 on the street and 60 on the highway... I think I'm covered.

"Do you smoke after sex?"
"I don't know, I've never looked."

As for the speeding thing, I like to go fast, but if you can't keep it within 30 MPH of the limit, you deserve to get totally ****** over by the law. There's no excuse for that!
