Before anyone kills me for this thread i have searched but I am still confused

The speaker size thread says that a Protege5 take 6" rear speakers but when i looked on best buy and Future Shop on the car fit guide it says that the rear speakers are 6"x8"

can anyone clarify this for me ?

Also looking at picking up some speaker harness adapters, where can i find these? I am in Canada and would like to not order online if possible

Thanks

could be wrong but 6" would be a round speaker and 6x9 would be oval, take a look at your speakers and see what shape they are and go from there.

and as for as connectors, you can do that yourself. You can pick up lil metal taps and a auto store and run a wire form the speaker to the metal tap and then plug that tap into the stock connector. Same way you would hook up HIDs

they look like this almost but without the hole

if it helps any,in my 2002 p5.i put 6 1/2" components in front.if your has the factoy tweeters and in the back i had 6 1/2" coaxals.dont always go with what best buys says.just pull the bottom of the doorpad up and you will be able to tell rt away.good luck

the rar deck on a millenia can hold 6x9's i have infinity kappa series running in the back and they do tend to drown the front speakers out.

I put 6 x 8 Kenwood Excelons in the front, have yet to put ones in the rear doors. It's weird how all third gen Protege's have speaker grilles in the rear doors, even though the first model to have speakers in the rear doors was the MP3, which only came out in 01. My friend has an 00 and it's like that. Just for looks I guess.

The speaker harness adaptors he is talking about are the plastic plugs on the factory speakers, and one on the speaker wire. I'm assuming it was for factory workers so they could snap the speakers on without having to solder anything. You don't need this at all. Just cut it off, but keep the wire as long as possible so it's easier to work with.
