Sparkco Wires on MP3

Another satisfied customer

I just installed my new set of Sparkco wires and they are everything people say they are. Along with Kartboy bushings, this should be a required mod for anyone.

MP3#872

Another Sparkco user

Just got it installed a moment ago, and is quite pleased with the results. Things I noticed:

- The idle drops a couple hundred rpm.
- Car feels slightly more torque on the low end, mainly from 1st & 2nd gear from a stand still. Don't expect too much though.
- Acceleration feels somewhat smoother.

If the wires improve gas mileage as well, other than the stuff mentioned above, its definitely worth the $40.

MP3 owners, try to mimic the wires' layout as close as enry's pics in the front page of this thread when doing your installation, as putting the plastic engine valve cover back on can be tricky if you have your wires layout differently. Pushing the long wire in a little while putting the cover on also helps.

Thanks for suggesting a good product guys, and thanks to Sparkco for making one. (thumb)

Wow, the wires already arrived yesterday (I ordered on Thursday and arrived on Monday)...that was quick!

Waiting till after work before installing :D

By the way, do you guys know if this is an easy do-it-yourself, or do you think it's better to do this professionally?

I'm a pretty good DIY guy, and I've got all the tools (I think) but I've never changed plug wires before. Just plug 'n play?

The wire part is really easy. Pretty much a 10-year-old can get it done. You just pull the 2 old wires out and plug the new ones in. Very simple and straight forward. But since you have an MP3, it may take you a little longer to position the wires so that the valve cover of the engine can fit back on. Just look at the pics in the front page for how the wires should go, as enry has an MP3 as well. You should be done in 10-20 mins, and no professional is needed.

Enjoy :)

Mad props to Peter At Sparkco for handling the Vancouver Protege Club's GB!! He is definately the MAN!:D

We ordered a total of 21 sets and all of them came 3 days after i deposited the money into their companies account... GREAT Customer Service is all i gotta say! I dont work for Sparkco nor do i get paid for saying this but as a representative of the VPC i would like to thank Sparkco for the successful GB!

Now i jsut cant wait to plug them in and try! ahaha

i will post my impressions on the wires after installing and a short drive ;)

i just finnished installing the wires and went for a short drive.... I AM AMAZED! @#$@ at first i didnt think a set of wires could make too much of a difference to an extent that i would feel it...... but it did!

things that i noticed :

1) when idle the rpm dropped a tad lower than it used to be
2) no more shakey/jerky starts from letting the clutch out slowly
3) SMOOTH i must repeat... SMOOTH revs from 3000-5500... (i can tell the most difference here)
4) better low-end ( i can feel the car being more responsive )

Overall im really happy that i did get these wires and i recommend them to anyone who hasnt gotten them yet!

Just bought mine. I wonder how long they will take to get here?:D Hopefully I will have my car back by then!

Mine are on the way! I cannot wait to get them, especially after hearing everyone's positive results from using them.
Contrary to some people who have made nothing but disparaging remarks regarding such a mod, I myself, based on over 5 years of both experimental and theoretical studies in physics and electricity/magnetism (currently working on my Ph.D.) wholeheartedly agree that a combination of higher conductivity of core/better resistance of sheath/etc. should make a substantial difference over OEM. No, I'm not looking for an additional 30hp (well, I really am, but not in these wires!!), but expect marked improvement mostly from reducing misfires.

Thanks again, Sparkco, and all involved for making this a pleasant purchasing experience. You'll get an update after I've got these installed!
Josh

Ordered mine on tues and got them on sat. i installed them on my mp3 in about 3-4 mins. on a p5 should take about 1 min. the car definitly feels smoother. and i like the color. to bad u cant see them on the mp3.
keep up the protege performance products!!

Installed mine this morning on the way to work after picking them up at the local post office (missed their delivery last Saturday). Results after the "plug n play" installation were immediate and much better than I expected. My idle dropped between 150-200 RPM; and even on my automatic, I notice a HUGE difference in the smoothness of the lower powerband in both 1st and 2nd gears.

I like the feel of the engine as it revs much better now, and my wife commented that the car felt a little quieter and much smoother.

Thanks SparkCo, for a great product...Keep them coming!
Josh
