Sparkco Wires on MP3

Thanks man, I was about to order through Enry's link, and was just wondering.

Hell, I'm excited now... lol (wiggle)

im pretty sure it wouldnt cause a problem. i dont see why. the connects acuatlly touching the plus are the same, its just the wire thats different.

im really lost in this............... call me dumb but why are there only two wires in the set? dont we have 4 cylinders?

Im also in the process of ordering this product can someone just assure me that it really DOES make a difference? :D

Two of the plugs have a coil directly on top of it. Therefore there is no wire, just a lead going straight to the spark plug. If you have an mp3 you'll have to remove your valve cover to see it. Otherwise you can see it just by looking under the hood. Look at my picture a few pages back in this thread to understand what I am talking about.

Many people on this site have reported improvements with the wire kit. And at 40$ you can't go wrong.

The order link:
http://www.mazdamp3.com/shop :D

Payment is through paypal or money order. Soon we will take CC's online as well. Shipping is 15$ anywhere in U.S. or Canada (hawaii & alaska included) with tracking number and the Sparkco guys are real quick, they usually ship the same day.

Enry

Improved ignition... low end torque. Some people have claimed it reduces vibrations. (see top of this page).

Peter from Sparkco will be able to give us more info.

my dealership is preaty good to me cause i give them good reviews. they got my side markers for 60 bucks.

as for the how too. it was real easy that a write up with pics isnt worth it. this is what we did

1. jack up front of car
2. undo bolt going through the bushing
3. undo two bolts on bottom of mount.
4. put new mount in
5. put in bolt throught bushing
6. put on bolts on bottom of mount
7. tighten everything down
8. drop car.

it was pretty easy,my bolts were tough to get of we had to use a big breaker bar.

When you say to jack the FRONT of the car up, do you mean behind one of the tires, or the actual CENTER front of the car? Like the middle of the front bumper...

And why do you jack it up?

we put jacked up the front of car using the brace underneath. then put jackstands behind the wheels on the suspensions peices. We mainly jacked up the car cause me and the guy who helped me (he had the tools but this can be a one man job) are not as thin as we use to be. the bolts may be tuff, we took an impact wrench to them and they didnt come off. then we put a ratchet on them with a 3 foot long breaker bar on it and they came off.

good luck its pretty easy.

ooooo, I'm all excited, the wires just came, and I'm gonna go put them on after work...I'll check back in tomorrow with the results...:D

So I can drive it on ramps instead?

OK: Advice to everyone with an mp3...don't tighten the nuts on your cover thing too tight, or you'll break one like me. :-(

Anyway, I installed them last night...took 5-10 mins (the plastic cover was a pain). If I had a P5 (no cover) it would have taken 2 minutes or less. Super easy.

But it does feel smoother...and my car was running great after I installed them. Maybe it was the cool temps, etc...but my car was just feeling nice and smooth last night. I'd really like to see a dyno with these wires, but It's not that I think they add HP so much (because even 3-5whp wouldn't really be noticeable) as it is smooth.

you can just ramps if you want. i just dont like ramps. i dont see why they would hamper doing the job.

And we all know KD is a whiny little b***, so if he says there's an improvement, it's there. :D

Yep, got to agree...smooth is the most noticeable result:)
downshifts are smoother, less of an abrupt slowdown when letting off of the gas when in gear. good stuff.
I actually ended up dropping the socket from the wrench (that i was using to take off the plastic cover) down into the fan/radiator...oooops...:o Eventually got it out with some pliers, but not without a nice burn on my knuckle from the downpipe covers...ouch
oh yeah, another thing I noticed was that starting in 1st is much smoother, no need to be so precise and have higher rpms to make the start up smooth...
NICE

These plugs/coils look like a good investment. My only question is what exactly is that piece that goes in the hole where the distributer use to be? Im thinking about getting a set for my MX6

After installing the plugs, my car is idling around 500...anyone else notice an idle drop?

because good plug wires decrease misfires and leakage, you might be experiencing a "drop" because the ignition isnt working so hard to burn the fuel, e.g. it can relax and retard its timing a little, which would eliminate little ignition bumps that raise your idle.

 Hi Scott, usually at around 30,000 miles. We use a lot of Bosch Platinum+4, but we will try the new Denso later and see if there is any different.

From what i hear from my mechanic friends, Denso are the best to go with any Japanese. imports. Bosh are more for German cars. Im going with Denso plat.

I'll second the recommendation for Denso...
Another brand that I have had great luck with is NGK.

I have also herd that Denso plugs are suspose to be pretty good, I just dont know about paying $9 per plug. I think I'll stick with my NGK V Power plugs
