Spark Plugs

That is good experience speaking right there. It is nice to hear some honesty and up front talk. Thank you for your help on this matter

Is it worthless to change the plugs if you're stock ? I already have the step colder plugs brand new in the box for when I was gonna run the tbe, but just never installed them.

It is worthless, yes. One of the main purposes (outside of providing spark) of the colder plugs is to extract more heat out of the cylinders - they act as a heatsink.

If you're turning your boost up or advancing your timing you'll be running higher EGT's and the colder plugs will help to offset that temp increase.

Having said that, if you have the Denso ITV22 (IIRC), I'll maybe buy them from you as I've got an MBC.

I pulled the iridiums out and put stock plugs regapped to . 028 back in today. my gas mileage has been dropping and the power is down it seems. I will try these for a couple weeks. The colder iridiums did not seem to help for very long with the misfiring on mine. But the new fuel pump and flash from mazda helped smooth it out and it will rev to redline with some power now. How much do the denso cost and is the 28 the best gap for me? Thanks

I have not felt comfortable with either set of plugs Who can guru this, calling all you smart fuckers to reach down and help alittle person. Good kharma is surely in it for y'all. The correct plug to run a street car, that will run no more than twenty pounds and runs at above 4000 at least 50% of the driving experience please, and of course the gap for such plug.

Lack of experience and no dyno time for me and others, I think. or it is a seemingly ignorant question. I am running as well or better after the original plugs were regapped and reinstalled, removed the colder iridiums after a few thousand miles and looked at em. bear in mind my fuel pump has been replaced and the appropriate reflash by Mazda has affected the air fuel ratios i imagine. I guess I will play around a little till the end of the season with plugs and gaps just for the heck of it.

with iridium plugs you need to be careful gapping them because they have a little ball tip and if you gap them incorrectly forget it the plug wont last

Your plugs will be fine if you run it up the rpm band once a week for a pinch on the open road. You need to clean the carbon buildup it's a fact. but go ahead and ask.
