I posted this in the tires and rims section but got no response.Im about to paint my stock rims and was wondering what would i have to do to get the wheels to sit flush with the car and not tucked in the fenders. Can i just use spacers? I also want to add if i use spacers to make it sit flush will it rub with stock rims and tire size?

When spacers aren't need for proper offset, as might be the case with certain aftermarket wheels, adding spacers to wheels with the proper offset tends to screw up the suspension geometry, cause excessive tire wear, and put an lot of extra load on the suspension pieces.

excessively large spacers can cause damage, for example when truck guys use like 2 inch and larger spacers, with heavier tires and wheels. lucky for us there isn't a need for anything that big. i had 20mm with stock wheel/tires on eibach prokit suspension "about 1" drop" and the rears rubbed in hard corners or under a load and over bumps. i got real frustrated so they are off now, but it did look really good. a 10 or even 15 would be more practical. i am not sure if the 10 uses the stock lugs, or if it has spacer bolts like the 20mm had, which i would recommend. also i used the eibach pro spacers. they are hub centric and a really nice machined product. if you get some, please don't buy generic

Whats a nice offset to run then? I want new wheels but cant afford em right now. So I wanted to make the stockers look better with paint and spacers to get em flush to fenders and q-panels

+1

Running RX-8 rims for that reason - gives me almost perfect offset with additional width and looks much more frush.
Nothing like the guys running 9" rims though.

I'm sure to get a bit of flame here, but the idea of bolting something like a 38 offset 18x7 on this car strictly to make it look like the rims are poking out to edges of the fenders seems stupid and ridiculous to me. The trade-off in torque steer and other issues mentioned above by MSMS3 don't seem anywhere near worth it.

I'd go bigger or go home to get a flush looking setup and run the right offset. Leave the spacers for Honda's or something.

I run 15mm spacers. They look good, pretty darn close to flush. No strange tire wear or rubbing to speak of.
