Hey everybody!

Im new here just learned about this place. I got a 01 protege. Im looking to upgrade the whole stereo system.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows any website or place in Toronto that has some good deals on subs, decks, speakers amps.. ??? And what brands do you recommend?

Thanks

first of all welcome to the forum!!

i would read here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26312 for a bit of info on a decent system for 1000$$ also check out the 500$$ audio challange at the top of the forum depending on your price range. as for shops in and around toronta i believe there is a pretty active canadain section here and i am sure some one there can point you in the right direction.

Take a look at all the sticky threads as Tsunami suggested. Welcome to the forum.

If you intend to order from online, the two places I recommend are www.crutchfield.com and www.sounddomain.com. There may be a few other decent sites out there but many are not authorized retailers for the products they sell and therefore do not honor the manufacturer's warranty.

Crutchfield has been in the business for ages, they have intelligent people answering the phones to answer any questions you might have. Most of the time they have the right answer...but be sure to post what you are thinking about buying here so we can help you out too.

What you can get all depends on your budget, listening style, and technical expertise at installing gear (or your expertise at taking things apart and putting them back together). If you are going to pay someone to install it, that obviously cuts into the amount of money you can spend on quality gear.

I don't think Crutchfield ships to Canada. If you go to checkout they don't give any options to ship to canada.

I read on canadiancaraudio.com that crutchfield is opening a wharehouse in Canada somewhere, sometime. Hence the no shipping.

Cardomain's pretty good but there are some brands they won't ship to canada. Polk being the big one.

Check out www.canadiancaraudio.com. There are a couple of vendor sites on there.

i would not recommend crutchfield , imo they are way to overpriced! a local store can beat their price everytime from what i have seen and keep warrenties!!

everything depends on what you want also

The only way a local store can beat their prices is if it is a blowout or liquidation sale. The prices crutchfield offers are the lowest the manufacturers will allow. In most cases, you get free shipping and with car audio gear, you get free wiring harnesses and installation kits (a $30-50 value depending on your car). Plus, they send you detailed installation and tech sheets for your new gear.

I'm sorry but I don't see how Best Buy and Circuit City can compete with that.

Check out the local forum, TOprotege.com. We have a few audio sponsors that could help you find what you need.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Im kinda getting prices online to see how much I need to spend. IF it would be cheaper online than thats what i will do. But of course price is not the only thing.

Thanks again.
