oil tap into pan.. the 1.6l's pan goes striaght onto the block, unlike the 2.0l with the center piece in between the block and the pan... anywho.. i took off the pan today to tap in to it, and realized o s*** .. there is some kind of oil shield around the crank shaft.. my question is , is it ok if i cut a small section out of it so that the nut wont hit it ?? as long as my crank shaft doesnt hit it, i should be fine right?

yep, that's a windage tray, and cutting it won't hurt a thing. Just clean up the edges when you're done so you don't have bits of metal flying around later when they work themselves off.

P.S. I've done this on quite a few mustang motors, so I've tried it and it works.
