Hi all........always love the P5 looks (free body kits) since it came out a year and half ago, and it is time to get my wife this car (that I like)......

Anyhow, fully loaded (factory option ABS, Auto, Power this and that, Moon-roof, Side air-bags, in-dash CD-changer...but not dealer option) is $19625....what do you think I should offer them..?

This is my 5th cars, and I usually use this equation - if the price OUT THE DOOR (incluing tax, plate, this and that...etc) is close to or even less then the RETAIL (in this case - $19625) that is a good price.

So, if I offer them 19000 OUT THE DOOR (vivid yellow P5).....do you think that is a good price..?

Please let me know my offer is too high or too low.....her jeep lease is over at the end of JAN 2003......need to figured that out fast.

Thanks everyone......

Here's what I did...

I used the information from www.carbuyingtips.com to price out the P5 I wanted and to do the negotiations. I used the online buying services (Autobytell, etc.) to contact the internet sales people at the Mazda dealers in my area. Of the two that responded I made appointments to go see and talk with them to get their price. I used the offer spread sheet from CarBuyingTips to put together an offer afterwords and made a second trip to the dealer to present my offer, which he immediately accepted. I spent a total of 20 minutes in two visits with the salesman making the deal. We ordered a '03 P5 with the following factory options: AT4, 1MC, 2AB, LS1, AW3, WLK, CGN, & CAS. The MSRP was $20,390 US and I asked for and got $18,700. Since we didn't finance the car with Mazda and wrote them a check for the the car, we got an additional $500 rebate which made the deal $18,200 before tax, etc.. I also beat the X plan by nearly $600. I may have been able to get a lower price, but I think the dealers should make some money on selling cars. That way, they have the resources to stay in business, keep their sales staff a little longer, and train their service personnel. Also be aware that there is very little markup on this class of car (unlike the SUVs and luxery rides) so you are not going to get a huge discount. Jim

One question though, where exactly can I copy that "Offer spread sheet" that you were talking about at www.Carbuyingtips.com...?

Please specific..........

This is aosilutely wonderfull........with the extra money, I can start shopping with the 18", CAI, Catback, Ebiach, Tokico and 5% tint.......hee hee
Thanks.....

The link to the spread sheets is in one of the chapters on the web site. I don't recall which one. Oh wait. I'll go look it up for you.
It's in chapter four. Read all of the chapters, it's a great learning experience. By the way, there's a whole section for Canadians too. Jim

Solara, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

and YES....the price range YOU are wanting to shoot for is without a doubt DOABLE.

Well,

I did not get my own P5...:( but I did shop around for a while and got couple quotes from some sales persons.

At first I got a quote which is under 800 invoice price and I thought it's great. But it's not the best price ....The best price I got is from a internet sales here in Southern California. For a 2003 manual with ABS and some options, MSRP 18235...his selling price is about 3000 LESS.. which means the out of door price is around 1500 under MSRP. and I DO believe they still make profit.

If I were you, I'd like to work with the Internet sales coz they work from below invoice price..at least for my case...

Anyway, shop around and u will get the best price..

Best

Jason

Wow.......that is GREAT HELP guys, and yes, I think I would start from the INTERNET and let them take to me via EMAIL.

One more question.......is Vivid Yellow P5 on waiting list usually? And usually - no discount? Like the Blue on MP3?

She kinda like the RED, but I like the Vivid Yellow cause ppl told me if you drive a vivid yellow car on highway with 18" rims, lots of "Type-R, GTR, Mugen Power, HKS, RallyArts, WRX or STi" stickers, 6" coffee cup exhaust bolt-on tip, along with BLUE windshield water noozle, Neon underside lights and Twin-Turbo badge.......your car is automatic 300 HP........

I just got my Silver P5 $500 below invoice with no option. Basic P5. stickered at almost $17,000 I got it at $15,300. Out the door price was $16,500. I first walked in telling them I'm only willing to pay $16,000 and we worked on it the entire morning until the big manager came out and offered $16,500. I think I got a good deal so maybe you can try offering a price that's impossiblily low... You might surprise yourself.

I'm not sure about the last paragraph here, hehe, I always like chasing those back when I have my V6 Camry so I can beat the crap out of my car as well as theirs, attention getter yes, but you might also get some unwanted attention.... like cops...hehe...

None of the P5 colors are necessarily restricted, but be aware that the car manufacturers usually build cars in color batches, depending on many colors they can paint at one time. When I ordered our Silver P5, the salesman stated that they normally expect 6 - 8 weeks of time from order entry to delivery. Of course the west coast dock strike hit and our car wound up sitting out on the Pacific Ocean and we ended up dealer trading a car from another dealer. Since there are only 154 combinations of P5 factory options, it should be fairly likely for Mazda to have the one you want in the pipeline already. Jim

Can someone varify 2 things

One.....does 2003 P5 come with side markers....?

Two....my wife can only drive A/T:'( , is this the option's OPTION...?

p5_perf_transmissions.jpg

Or this is the ONLY 2003 A/T.....unlike the 2002 and 01....(the traditional A/T shifter).....this one does much better.

Thanks

Yes to both. The only automatic in the 2003 P5 is the Sport Auto with the manual shift gate. It works quite nicely thank you.

Yes, the 2003 P5 comes with side markers, and the automatic for 2003 is the sportshift like the one in the picture...
