Bought the Magden M1 from tomcranems3, and got the screen from http://www.caradvanced.com

Will do a more formal write-up when I get them installed completely. Right now I dont have all of the cables tucked away.

Looks awesome. Would love to see some video of the gauges responding as you drive.

Caradvanced makes the instal sound like a 5-minute snap, which I am sure is not quite the case... so how involed was it?

The lcd install is pretty easy, the walkthrough on the caradvanced site is very good. Removing the factory headunit requires a little more muscle than I thought it would, and getting it back in after connecting the new wire harness is kind of tight, so you have to have the wires tucked away just right, or it wont go back in all the way. It took an hour or so, and I was going slow. It could be done in half of that i'm sure. The Magden unit has a power adapter that uses the cigarette lighter for power, so I think I'm going to use the aux one in the center console, and find a way to run the other wire from the OBDII to the Magden box under one of the seats. I will try to get some video of it while driving this weekend, and some pics of my install.

Dang, this is super tempting. What OBD-II parameters can you read? Is it everything there is? Where can I find a list?

Here is a link to a pdf file that has the list of channels available.

You cant read trouble codes, but you can insert a usb stick & datalog all of the gauges you are currently using, and replay it back on the M1, or export it as a .csv file to read in excel. It is sunny today, and the screen kind of washes out if direct sunlight hits it, but for the most part the display is pretty good. I didnt have to run anything through the firewall, or splice any wires, and if I need to visit the dealer, all I have to do is unplug the OBDII connector. I'm going to try and get Magden to get us some gauges that match our color scheme better since their orange is light, and those should be even easier to read during the day. Some window tint may help as well (good excuse to get some right).

more pix and details about the car advanced screen. i personally like the placement of the screen there, i think its best in the line of sight, but i was planning on getting a gauge pod there down the line...needless to say this solves that issue. the only thing that kinds sucks about this system is the fact that you're dependent on a remote control which im not too fond of. hows the software? user friendly? have u set up GPS or an external DVD player?

how are the magden gauges? are they responsive in real time? worth while? easy to read? etc...

That document has a blank in the row for Lambda in the speed3 column! I sure hope this is a typo.

I think I just figured out what I want for Christmas!

Lambda is 02 sensor - Air/Fuel ratio right ? If so you'll notice in my Pics that it's there.

This video explains just about everything you need to know about the screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V48nMBk3mDo
I read somewhere yesterday that there is a touchscreen version of this flipdown available (at that time anyways) but it was $1150. Too damn expensive for a touchscreen if you ask me. I'll go through my history & see if I can find it. I'll have the GPS by next summer. Dont have a need for the dvd player.

The Magden gauges response time is instant. They are very easy to read. I'll know more about the worthwhile this weekend when I get more time to play, and get things setup the right way. everything is just laying on my passenger floorboard right now.

Good, so just the docuement is wrong. It would be a huge mistake if they left it off. Thanks for the clarification, now it's really on my list.

Looks good. Reminds me of the old school HKS CAMP I ran in my MSP back in the day.
