Some advice

Hi all,

I am a owner of a new 09 mazdaspeed3 and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on performance upgrades.

I am looking to get the following within the next two weeks.

BPV
Intake
maybe a boost controller - I hear that 1/2nd gear has no boost so I would need to get this up with a BC? Any advice?

Does anyone have suggestions on a website to purchase and any certain brands?

Thanks in advance.

first and second gear do have boost but its limited...

Intake shouldn't be a big deal...I'd do some serious reading on mods beyond an intake, not that you couldn't or shouldn't do them but there have been a few issues with motors grenading.

Some are "stock" or said to be stock, but most are modded and/or have the boost turned up. Several theories surrounding this, but it seems there is no one cause, but probably a clumination of events that lead to engine failure.

Just do your homework before you start modding.

I wouldnt get a bpv cause for some reason my car makes a loud noise ever since i installed mine. i think it might be broken

I installed a CPE nano intake with an Autozone Spectre air filter but it makes a loud high pitched noise at full throttle, I think something is rubbing or not running right.

If you want the parts within 2 weeks that puts PTP and PG out of the question.

Geesh... Everyone is tired of these kinds of threads or what? Read up poster... There are more than 1,000 of these exact kinds of threads with all the answers you are looking for.

In all honesty, start by fixing Mazda's short comings...

CAI/SRI
MM
SS/Bushings
RSB
BPV

Then get something that can monitor things like a DH or something and go from there. Learn about your car and learn your car before going big and upping boost or tuning. give it a chance to set in and become familiar. You may not think it needs anything after. Good luck but search and read!

hold off on the boost controller man, go with intake and BPV and maybe turbo inlet, shell feel good 1-3 for sure with just that.

I started with an intake, which led to a turbo inlet pipe, which led to my stock bpv to leak, which led to a new bov, which led to monitoring boost with a dashhawk. I think I'm ok for now. Hmm... maybe a downpipe?1!!11

P.S. Maybe don't mod, cause then you can't get addicted.

hi

Thank you to the ones you posted relevant information.

I do not understand all these abbreviations.

CAI/SRI - Cold and short ram intake
MM <--?
SS/Bushings < short shift and bushings?
RSB - <---?
BPV - bypass valve.

I am trying to learn how to shift. This is my first manual car. I am holding off on upgrading for the time being. Thought some of you might find that interesting.

So now I bought a downpipe... See what I mean, once you start modding there's no end, hehe.
Here's a few for you:
MM = Motor Mount
RSB = Rear Sway Bar

Here's a thread that'll help you out.

CAI/SRI - Cold and short ram intake
MM <--? Motor Mount, which will help a ton, most commonly the rear
SS/Bushings < short shift and bushings? yes TMW and Cobb makes short throws for our car, do a search on a comparison
RSB - <---? rear sway bar, suspension mod, do a search to find out more
BPV - bypass valve.
