Anybody up for an install meet and BBQ?
Weather is nice in SoCal, a little hot depending on where you live.
I can offer up my place, but I am a little east of LA as I live in Loma Linda (beside Redlands). I am also a little tooless.... I left all my tools in Toronto when I moved here and only have those 150-piece kits at my disposal. Luckily my car isn't lowered so I can still crawl under, but ramps or a jack and stands would be great. I have a 2 car garage, but it's occupied by some garbage but some of it can be cleaned out so that cars can fit in there. I have a BBQ and can buy some burgers and beer to feed people. If you want to bring your own food, that's cool too.
Of course, I'm also willing to take my stuff to somebody's place to install as well.... driving distance doesn't really matter, as long as it's within 2 hrs.
This would be fun to have SoCal Protege owners hang out and learn about modding cars, grabbing a bite to eat or getting and dirty to install stuff.
Anways, I have a bunch of stuff to install:
- SW boost gauge (maybe a SW oil pressure gauge soon too)
- Autometer dual pillar
- Turbohoses hardpipes (hopefully the turbohoses SMIC soon too)
- Injen CAI
- Greddy TT
- hopefully a CF hood if i can get a deal on it.
So i'm sure other people have mods too that they want to install. If anybody is up for it, I'm free on most weekends (probably this will be an all day Saturday thing). If you're driving from far away and our installing goes into the night, the house i live in is big, so bring a sleeping bag or something just in case. So I'm going to set a tentative date of June 25th for this thing to happen. Although the more the merrier, driveway space is limited (probably 2 cars in garage, 2 in slightly sloped driveway) but the street is wide and flat, so people parked against the curb can do installs there.
btw, if you don't know me, then my name is Mike. I was the VP of the Toronto Protege Club (www.toprotege.com) for about 3 years. So I have a long standing relationship with the Mazda community in the Toronto area. I used to have a Silver P5, but moved out here and ended up getting an 03 Black MSP.
If you wanna see this happen and are interested, please throw your name down on the list, your mods that you want to install, tools you can bring, and date that you can most likely be able to attend.
Interested list.
