So...what causes engine-grenade in the MS3?

Gotta know...

I'm guessing one of two things is true abut this car...

1. This thing is almost 100% from Mazda in terms of horsepower...push it much farther and you grenade the engine

2. This thing is pushed too far by Mazda from the start...so good luck buddy...cross your fingers and hope the engine doesn't blow!

Well...which is it? Are the guys on this and other forums pushing the car too hard with mods or are these things ticking time-bombs? (my money is on the pushing too hard part)

I bought this car to basically leave it stock...I had too many mods on my GTO and found I got sick of the problems...I'd like to add to that I personally feel pushing a 4cyl of this type too far is a mistake to begin with...If I wanted stupid fast I would have supercharged the goat...

Changed the title...I guess I'm too new here for most to know how full of s*** I am 90% of the time...

its just like any other car the more hp your running the more you got to worry about the internals

Wow...well, I guess some people can't tell a joke when they see it (or at least a joke with a hint of truth)...I just dropped $25K on a car...I wouldn't have done that if I thought it was a pile of s***...therefore I don't think the car is crap...like I said, I really like the thing.

I'm mostly wondering how many have had engine failures on a mostly stock setup...I just added a little "ZING" to the question...

Congrats....
Hopefully you did a lot of reasearch before you made the purchase.
Good luck with it.

Well to be honest, having threads like these hurts the reputation of the forums. Espcially if you were just joking and dont even mean what you said, people will take the thread out of context entirely.

I will say I have read many "Well...blew the motor today" threads across the web concerning these things...thus my thread. More often than not, a list of mods is never made so there's no explanation for the failure given...

Like I said above, I changed the title of the thread, I guess I'm too new here for you guys to know my sense of humor...

Yea i think we already have enough, "my motor blew today", we dont need anymore. lmfao

btw- welcome to the forums!

I think you should not modify this motor. I plan on keeping mine 100% stock and I hope it will be reliable.

what how can you keep this thing stock?

I mean seriously Testpipe, SRI, Bypass valve should NOT CAUSE a problem. Just dont play with boost its cheaper than nitrous LOL.......all you need is a boost controler set to 34psi, and there you have it blown engine :D
