Off Topic So slow I'm ashamed...

Very solid! Nothing will leverage that beyond capacity for at least 5 years os my guess.
4 cores might start aging, but really I agree with this. We're very much only in the infancy of games coming out that will start leveraging more than a quad core. It's going to be years. 16GB of RAM is enough, and the 3070 Ti is a screaming card. (y)

And the price creep-up cycle will continue. Calling it now, the 3800 Ti will be $1500.
I was just reading earlier parts of this thread, and I was complaining about the $1200 launch price for the 2080 Ti. We didn't know Nvidia was going to change the naming scheme with the 3090, but looks like I called it. At least for the initial MSRP before pricing got even stupider.

4 cores is limited, sure, but when you benchmark games look at how much of your CPU is leveraged. It's really not a lot. More GPU, still.

Well to an extent. CPU still needs to be fast enough to feed the GPU. But I think any relatively modern CPU in the middle to high end from the past few years is good enough for that.

Yea, I absolutely didn't need to upgrade to a 3070. I literally did not have one game that benefitted. I bought Cyberpunk just to try and push it. I would have gotten more out of buying a better monitor. ;)

Yeah maybe next year I'll look at getting an OLED, but just having a hard time justifying over $1k for a monitor. Also the OLED would probably be 4k, so maybe when the 5070 comes out lol. From what I've seen, 3070 is a good 1440p card, which is what I am on now.

Mines just a 1080p. My buddy has a 144 wide and that alone is a nice upgrade.

Looks like we are getting a new ATX 3.0 spec for power supplies which includes the new 12-pin PCI-E connector Nvidia introduced. If rumors of 500W+ graphics cards next generation are true, makes sense.

Meanwhile my night was spent fixing this. Works now.

Made me appreciate the Intel LGA sockets and retention brackets far more. Basically I was removing the air cooler I was testing this with and it pulled the CPU right up out of the socket with it. Big 2 thumbs down from me on that one AMD. Glad they are going with an Intel style socket next gen.

So I have some news. For a very reasonable amount of money plus a trade including my 3070, 3070 waterblock, and a 240mm rad, I will now be getting a Founders Edition 3080 Ti.
