First of all always use an automotive brand soap, and not some type of dish soap. The dish soap will strip away any wax on your car. Most auto stores carry decent stuff as far as mitts go. Just be sure their stay clean and free of debris and dirt when you wash. Always wash from the top down, rinsing often, etc.

I used to buy supplies from here:
http://www.autopia-carcare.com/

But I found that most places locally are carrying great stuff now.

Flood your paint with water (meaning straight from the hose w/o a nozzle on) when rinsing the soap off. Drying the car will be much faster and easier. I would recommend Aerospace 303 Protectant for the dash and the interior plastic bits.

isnt white supposed to stay the cleanest? when i had a white car it didnt show dirt very well which was great! I could kep the car dirtier for longer between washes as I had to drive 20 minutes from my apt to mty parent's house to use the washing stuff.

apparently not. i had sunlight silver before the white. silver was the best, that with bronze wheels...almost never had to wash it. im on the highway a lot, after a few days it's pretty ratty. always looks like someone got old motor oil and slung it on the sides of my car haha

oh yeah thats alwasy gross after the first rain in a while when it gets that oil looking crap on the sides, i remember seeing THAT on my white car, but the everyday dust/dirt i could never really see compared to a black/dark blue car.

i currently have sunlight silver so i rarely ever see any dirst/dust if anything. My wife is hoping to get her next car as white or silver to make it easier to repel the dust as her current car is dark blue and its dirty the next morning after washing it in the area we live in

A tip I read somewhere said to use two buckets: one for soapy water and the other with plain water for rinsing out the mitt. That way, dirt gets left in the plain water... not into the soapy water.

I put a coat of Klasse sealent on a while back to protect the paint. After a wash I use pinaccle spray detailer with carnuba wax. The cars stays amazingly clean, nothing sticks to it. Nothing touches the car but microfiber towel and mit.

exactly. its known as the 2 bucket method.

Like i said. theres a ton of info in the detailing section.

I wash mine once a week with Meguire's soap and a wash mit from autozone. I wash the wheels with the same soap and a sponge. I use the two bucket method. I will probably wax it twice a year as needed.

As for the interior, I use a shop vac on it probably every 2 or 3 weeks and wipe dust off with a Swiffer pad. I'll use a microfiber towel on the piano trim pieces if I see any fingerprints. I don't use any actual cleaning products on the interior.

I go to the carwash and rinse it off every couple days with the pressure washer, rinse, wax, then spotless dry water. To dry it off I drive really fast down a long stretch of road. I havent washed my car with anykind of mitt or brush in about two months.

you wax your car without washing it first? A pressure washer doesnt remove all the road grime and dirt.

i dont want to imagine what your paint looks like.

At the car wash you choose the wax option which shoots a stream of wax out of the pressure washer. Its basically a touchless wash. Im in So.Cali so I dont get a lot of road grime and whatever I do get I rinse off right away. My paint is nice and shiny with no swirl marks, but I am going to Zaino it over the Thanksgiving weekend.

That's hardly a wax. You'd be surprised at what your car will pick up just driving down the road.

I got some auto soap with carunuba was beads in it so when I wash it gets waxed at the same time. Never let anything dirty touch it cuz you might scratch your paint. Comes out looking like I paid 40 dollars at the carwash. Do it every week on thursdays so its fresh for the weekends ha ha ha.
