All car companies are the same...i browse the evom.net forums and if a mitsu dealer sees a boost gauge...warrenty voided asap.....if u buy a car to mod...just throw warrenty out of the window.....simple put.....

i also agree that its good to see ppl step up and really see the limits of our cars....when i first got on i was hopin someone would test the theroies on piggybacks for our cars...turboge did....several ppl includin discreet provided we can go above 10 psi safely.......we are makin alot of progress....but slowly i think more and more will open up for us.....i plan to go as far as i can safely with a stock block....while many think its so important to build the block cus it cant handle anyting im sure with GOOD tuning....that u can easliy work the stock block for everything its worth.....

even though mazda didnt truely put much efort in providing a solid turbo setup....thats what aftermarket is for......eventually someone will crack our ecu and eventually we will see how far setup can truly go.....

I'm sure everyone is entitiled to their opinion. So here is mine. haha. I really don't know why this thread is 19 pages long.
The, and i mean The. Bottom line with this car is...................
Its a stock protege block. Mazda gave us some extra power with the Turbo, and they limited the power for a GOOD reason. It can't handle more power without exceeding their "predicted limits"

If your going to BOOST,without proper fuel management at the least (obviously forged would do the trick too). Your motors gonna POP. Maybe not next month, maybe not next year. But It is gauaranteed to DIE faster than a stock motor would.

Now if anyone has something to say, say it. Maybe we can get to page 40 soon.

Damn Brian you speaketh the truth. If more dealers supported the modding community Mazda would most definitely sell more cars. Hmm let's see more support=more sales whod a thunk it  I don't mean fix every thing that may, possibly break as a result of a mod. I mean stop treating people who install a boost gauge like they have committed the cardinal sin of car care. Damn, at least warranty the other surrounding parts that are not affected by the mod. Embrace your target audience.

You know, I like you better when you aren't being a tool. (bow)

I think Subaru and the other companies that have actual racing teams would also be upset with stuff like adding Mods to the cars. An idea might be like this. FACTORY OPTIONS. The muscle car days, you could pretty much get anything you wanted right from the dealer. You get a warranty and exactly what you want. The ******* Camaro came with like 5 engine options and striping / colour combinations that would make your head spin. MSP 2 colours (at first). as is. Take it, like it, or leave it?:wtf:

I understand that it is a limited production run and all but it's a little generic. That forces us to modify it to be unique and try to make our cars to be closer to what we wanted in the first place. I'm not suggesting that Mazda installs boost controllers etc.

The Neon comes with an autometer boost guage. The EVO comes with oversized brakes and FMIC ( It NEEDS IT ). The FOCUS?? Whatever.

Basically what I am trying to say is, wouldnt it be fantastic if MAZDASPEED was something more than just a sticker on the back of the car. In Japan it is a line of parts for our cars. Here...Nothing but orange or yellow paint and a turbo...

If Mazda offered factory trained technicians that could install new bottom ends and low compression forged internals, beefy drive shafts and the like...I would be the first in line. The market is there, it a multi billion dollar industry. I would much rather have Mazda techs install my pistons or clutch than some dude at a garage. At least I know he understands how my car works, not just a basic automotive understanding. The factory tech might have knowledge of Clunk and Flash etc.

Holy s***. What a mouthful.

The Market is here for MAZDASPEED. The ball is in Mazda's corner.

agreed but ull never see it happen.....no motorsports division of any car company that offers parts for production cars are covered under warrenty.......EXCEPT TRD...to my knowledge......mopar, sti, and others dont have warrenty coverage on their parts.....my buddy has the full lineup if trd equipment on his solara.......i was suprised when he go work done to the super charger and it was all free.....in the end, its all up to finical decisions that put this idea on the choppin block.....its a god sent that the msp go threw with the turbo still on :)

The car would be in a different price bracket if you were able to select more options from the dealer. It is not cost effective. But I agree, it wouldve been nice to have more options from the factory but expect to pay for them.

And Mazda took their ball and went in another direction with it. It's called the MazdaSpeed Miata. Turbocharged 1.8L motor putting out 170hp if I remember correctly. I got an email from them about it a few weeks back. It's on my home computer so I don't have access to it at work.

Yep, Mazdaspeed isn't going to support the Protege now that its under Mazda's wing and discontinued. The MSP was the final bang (puff of smoke) for the Protege line. :(

MAZDASPEED is supposed it make parts and cars. Not just cars. That is all I was really trying to say.

i pretty sure its around 180hp

From the MazdaUSA web site:

The most popular two-seat roadster in history is making history. Again. This time with a turbocharged new version proudly called: MAZDASPEED MX-5 Miata. With 25 percent more horses (178 hp) and 33% more torque (166 lb-ft), a beefed up short-throw 6-speed gearbox, Bosch torque-sensing limited-slip differential, not to mention a MAZDASPEED sport-tuned and lowered suspension -- we're talking no-holds-barred and pure unadulterated fun. Bring yourself up to speed and make some history of your own.

Hmm, maybe a swith in models is in store for me?

Check this out:

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/flash/upcoming/MXS/download/mazdaspeedMiataSpecs.pdf

About the same hp as our cars, but 300 or so lbs lighter!

This thread had gone completely off topic, and is in danger of being closed. The bickering was unecessary. Yeah, it's closing time.
