So, a drunk driver crashed into my parked car last night...

damn, sorry to hear about this... but you're right, deal with it and move on. :) good attitude.

But on the downside... what they do is after first evaluating the accident and injuries they internally set a budget... and that's it... once that is set you can't get more unless you go to court... so they need to be made aware of everything from the start to make sure that they set a proper budget... then things like rental cars and so forth all come out of that budget... so keep that all in mind.

True enough; I need to get all my reciepts in order of what I had installed.

No injuries in this case and I'm not going to go chasing after it; if someone had gotten injured, then sure...

We'll see tomorrow when I get an estimate from Cars Collission on the..um...cars.

I don't think I have any pics.

The only stuff I installed was the GT Spec braces, the Mazda Alarm and the Mazda rear view mirror....oh, and the RR front inserts, the AWR "side" tranny mounts, and the Kartboy bushing/Corksport bushing/B&M short shifter combo. I also just went with MT-90 MTX fluid and Royal Purple motor oil a few weeks ago.

Hey if you can, try to get it worked at the dealer you got it from or the closest dealer to you, dont get those parts replaced with cheap aftermarket tin foil, instead get original mazda parts. besides, they cost more $$ and you want that monkey in serious financial situation.

Also dont let your insurance company raise your premium cause it wasnt your fault, in case that they do, give me a PM i got some contact info that will set them straight

also collect any pictures with the mods on the car... just in case :)

most insurance companies will NOT cover your aftermarket modifications in an accident, unless they know you put them on there, in which case they'd raise your rates anyhow

that's correct, though numerous people on the boards have said that state farm will pay for aftermarket parts, like that bigj884 dude or whatever. If I remember right, his cf hood and all that crazy jazz is covered...

yes it was

Work what out at the dealer closest to me? Parts? Another car?

The threshold for it being totalled is 70% of retail value. The "torque box" and wheel well were damaged, easily damaging the lower a-pillar support structure. Not to mention the strut support and underlying suspension. There was serious tweaking to the front end that isn't visible. I drove it up the tow truck flat bed yesterday and it was sooooo painful. Felt like it was just going to fall apart.

If they offer me the contract option to repair it regardless, I'll tell them to just junk it. It'll never be the same (it's not just the fender - the pictures don't do the damages any justice).

As I said, his policy is covering everything, including deductibles for the repair (as necessary). I validated that my premiums will not be increasing. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not concerned about that.

As I've said 1.2864 x 10^23 times already, I'm not going to drag this out longer than necessary. What I won't do is end up in the red on this, but I have bigger fish to fry.

Yep, that's why I said I have to get my reciepts in order (at least for the items I had installed).

THis really sucks but guess there's nothing you can do...

Ah, but thats where you err; there is ALWAYS something one can do. Theres a solution to every problem..

Glad to see you have such a good and positive attitude for it... people tend to get too worked up about all the stuff that happens in life... not worth it! Just makes the rest of life more miserable! :)
